Creating your own paper flowers seems to be all the rage lately. I have seen many tutorials, and I even posted a great tutorial by someone yesterday on my personal blog. Well, I wanted to create my own tutorial using Memory Box stamps and show you the different ways we can create flowers for your cards, layouts, and altered art.
For my flower today, I wanted to use the Memory Box Create Art stamp {G1330}. I also know that I am going to be adding it to a card using the new Memory Box Spearmint 6x6 papers so that is how I chose my ink for today's flower.
To begin, I punched 8 paper shapes. I used a Spellbinders Nestabilities scallop circle die but you can use punches or any other die you wish. Use your imagination. I also used plain printer paper. I wanted thin paper, and I don't need to worry about it being acid free.
After cutting out my paper shapes, I used the Memory Box Create Art stamp and stamped on each piece. I used two different Memento ink colors for fun.
Next, I stacked my paper pieces on top of each other, pierced the center, and added a brad.
Once I had the brad in the center, I began scrunching up each layer until I had a "scrunched up mess." :)
Then, I carefully opened each layer and arranged the flower. Here is how mine turned out:
There are LOTS of varations for these flowers. Here are just a few ideas:
*You can used different colored paper.
*You can sponge the edges of your paper.
*You can mist the paper with ClearSnap Smooch Spritz or other similar product for a little shimmer.
*You can brayer your paper pieces for a fun effect.
*Etc., etc., etc.
So, why not try a flower today. Save it because next time I will show you how I used it on a card. Enjoy, and see you again soon!
