Sorry for the gap in posts.  I went away for a few days, but now I am back!

After posting a black Christmas card, I thought it might be a good idea to post something bright for a change.  Needing inspiration, I broke out my pack of Glitterati papers with all of its bright green and blue papers.

To make this card, I stamped the Twizzle Tree (E1284) onto Eggshell cardstock using brown Memento ink.  I stamped it a second time onto some green patterned paper from the Glitterati pack and cut out the circles. I paper-pieced the circles onto my original eggshell paper and layered the circle onto a larger scalloped circle.  To finish the card, I added a Thank You saying (B1055) as well as a bunch of berry pearls and layered all the pieces onto a Key Lime notecard.

Droppin' a Lion

Is it just me, or is anyone else really exited about the "What's in the Box" release?  I saw that Dave just posted pictures of the new papers on his blog.  Aren't they wonderful?  Plus, he posted pictures of the new stamps on the Memory Box site.  Very, very exiting!  I know there are a few more items that aren't pictured on either site, so stay tuned for even more.

Before I start posting samples using the new supplies, I wanted to share a card using the Hear Me Roar Clear Set (CL131).  I hope you can tell from the picture that there is a window in the card, and the lion is stamped on the inside.  To make the card, I ran my card and Glitterati paper through an Accu-Cut machine to make a circle window card.  I then added some Sweetcorn cardstock to the inside of the card so that it would be yellow instead of white.  I stamped the lion and saying on the inside of the card using black Memento ink and colored the image with Copic markers.  I tried to pick markers that would pick up some of the colors found in the paper.

Happy Summer

Do you recognize this penguin?  He is the basketball penguin from the new Hoop Penguin clear set (CL137).  I decided he was a practical image that could be used for more than just basketball-themed cards.  Instead of layering the entire uniform from the set on him, I added just the shorts so that they would look like swim trunks.

To make this card, I used paper from the Glitterati collection for both the background and to paper-piece the swim trunks.  The Glitterati paper has such a vibrant summer feel to it that I really wanted for my beach scene.   I free-hand cut some sand out of Kraft cardstock and layered the patterned paper onto an ocean notecard.  To finish the card, I added a saying (Happy Summer B888) using Majestic Blue Versafine ink.

Happy Bird-Day

I don't know what it says about me that I just can't refrain myself from putting hats on my animal stamps.  It is some kind of illness.  I just don't know what it is called.

To make this card, I stamped the Tweet Bird (E1263) onto some eggshell paper using black Memento ink and then colored it with a selection of Copic markers.  I punched out the image with a Marvy mega circle punch and then layered it onto licorice paper cut from a Marvy giga scallop circle punch.  The patterned paper is from the Glitterati collection and reminds me a bit of a Kandinsky painting.  I cut a small triangle from the same paper to look like a party hat and added a berry pearl to the top.

The Happy bird-day dashed (B1007) is one of my favorite sayings because it is just so practical.  Memory Box has so many wonderful bird images, and the saying pairs so well with all of them.

Bada-Bling!

I told my friends about a card I made that used a lot of rhinestones....a whole heck of a lot of rhinestones. I think something was lost in my description because they seemed to think that you wouldn't be able to see the papers or stamps underneath all the bling.  I am posting the finished card so that you can be the judge.  All I can say is that it catches the light spectacularly and makes me so happy every time I look at it.  What can I say, I love my bling!

To make the card, I stamped the new Spriggle stamp (C1259) onto eggshell paper using black VersaFine ink.  I then added a mixture of skyblue, lagoon, pistachio, and grass green jewels to the card in every place that there was an open circle on the Spriggle image. I then layered my piece onto some paper from the Glitterati pack and added the oh happy day (B1216) saying.

If you are not quite as "bling happy" as myself, you could alter the card by using less jewels and adding then sporadically over the Spriggles.  Another variation would be to stamp an individual Spriggle instead of a whole line of them and then deck out the solitary image in as many jewels as you can find.

Color Variation

A couple of people have asked me if I would post the card that I showed at the end of the copic video I made.   To make the card, I followed the same techniques as I did in my last post.  However, I added a saying (B1055) and some canary jewels as a variation of the original card.  The patterned paper is from the Glitterati collection, and the elements were all layered onto an ocean colored notecard.

Copic Cardinal and Video!

I just love the new Crested Bird image (F1260).  Although, I have to admit, it looks like a cardinal to me.  I used Copic markers to color the bird and Prismacolor pencils to color the leaves and branches.  Here is a close-up of the bird and the coloring:

Springtime Greetings

Yes, I am still on my Glitterati paper kick.  I can't seem to put the paper pack down!  For today's card, I stamped the birds (Espalier Birds E1261) onto white cardstock using black Memento ink.  I colored the birds with my BG09 (Blue Green) Copic marker and the leaves with my YG03 (Yellow Green) Copic marker.  I then outlined the branches with a green Prismacolor pencil and added some Pistachio jewels.  I layered my birds onto some Glitterati paper and trimmed the corners with a corner rounder.  To finish the card, I attached some blue-green ribbon and added my saying (Springtime Greetings B1226) with Deep Lagoon VersaFine ink.

Spring Leafy Tree

I decided to continue my series of Glitterati cards by using some of the paper from the pack that reminds me of tie-dyed material.  It is just so bright and happy!

Although the image (Leafy Tree E1266) is nice and large and would be easy to use with Copic markers, I decided to stamp it directly onto the patterned paper and then color it with Prismacolor pencils.  Prismacolors are nice and opaque so that they show up really well even when you are coloring over a patterned paper.  

Next, I ran some Sweet Corn cardstock through my Cuttlebug to add some texture and layered my pieces onto some Holly Berry paper.  Finally, I stamped my saying (Happy Spring B849), placed everything onto a Key Lime notecard, and added some berry pearls.

Here is a close-up of the tree so you can see how the Prismacolors look over patterned paper as well as how the pearls add a nice dimensional element to the card:

It's a Party!

I needed to make a birthday card for a friend, and what better stamps to use than the Memory Box party animals?  Okay, technically they are called Birthday Penguin (C845), Cupcake Bear (C984), and Party Panda (C1224).  I immediately knew that I wanted to pair the party animals with some Glitterati papers for my birthday card.   The Glitterati pack is filled with bright and bold colors that definitely say, "party!"

To make this card, I stamped my animals onto white paper and colored them with an assortment of colored pencils and shaded them with a gray Copic marker (C1).  I stamped them again onto some Glitterati paper and paper pieced elements such as the hats, balloon, and present.  I then layered the animals onto more Glitterati strips of paper and added my saying (It's a party B865) with black VersaFine ink.  To finish the card, I added red rhinestones to the tops of the hats and clear rhinestones to the sparklers to catch the light.
