Detatchable Bookmark

Hello all.  I was gifted with a free day to stamp with some friends yesterday, and we participated in several of the Splitcoast Virtual Stamp Night challenges.  The card I am posting today is in response to a challenge where we were to create a card with a detachable bookmark. 

For my card, I took a standard size notecard (blue poppy) and perforated one side of the card so that you could tear off the edge and use it as a bookmark.   I added some layers of 6" x 6" Enchanted paper, the Thanks Script (A833), and the Butterflies (B1206).   Finally, I punched a hole at the top right-hand corner and added a ribbon so that it would look a bit more like a traditional bookmark.

Thank You Poppies

You may have noticed that I make a lot of thank you cards.  I find that the two types of cards I make most are birthdays and thank yous.  Is that the same for everyone else?

I started this card without an actual design in mind.  I just pulled out some of the Enchanted 6" x 6" paper and let everything fall into place.  I stamped the Poppy Row (D1358) onto patterned paper with black Versafine ink.  The image has a black border around it, so I decided to add an extra layer of black paper to my card to help balance the colors.  I then stamped the Thank You (B1055) saying using the same black Versafine ink and finished by layering everything onto a Key Lime notecard.

Birthday Butterfly

Today's card is a "quick and easy" card that features patterns from the new 6" x 6" Enchanted paper pack.  I simply stamped the Leaf Print Butterfly (D1349) onto purple paper from the pack, cut it out, and layered it onto more paper from the pack.  To finish the card, I added a saying (Happiest Birthday B1354) using brown Versafine ink and placed everything onto a lavender card.

Making cards often goes quickly when you let patterned paper do all the coloring for you!

New Paper!

This is my first card using the new Enchanted 6" x 6" paper pack.  I love it!  Of course, I feel as though I say that about every new Memory Box paper pack.  :)

The stamping on this card is from one collage stamp.  Isn't it pretty?  I went through several ideas in my head about coloring the butterfly and then decided on paper piecing the wings with some of the Enchanted paper.  To make the card, I stamped the Inspire Butterfly Collage (G1352) twice onto to two patterns from the Enchanted paper pack using black Versafine ink.  I cut out the yellow wings and then glued them onto the green background.  I then layered everything onto Licorice cardstock, more patterned paper, and a Meadow notecard.

To make the wings sparkle, I added a thin layer of Distress Rock Candy Stickles.  A couple of things to keep in mind when you use Distress Stickles:

1.  A thin layer works best (your finger works well to apply the Stickles)

2.  Unlike other Stickles, you can actually dry the glitter glue with a heat gun, which will cut down on your drying time.
