Wintry Owls

I think it is official.  I am definitely going through my blue/brown period.  I just can't seem to put down my Dewfrost paper!  I have never colored elements of a tree blue before, but I thought the Dewfrost paper would really highlight the Wintry Owls (E1275).

To make the card, I layered pieces of the Dewfrost patterned papers to make it look like a sky and a snowy ground.  I then stamped my owls onto the snowflake pattern using Rich Cocoa Memento ink and cut out the tree.  Here is a close-up so that you can see the patterns a bit better:

I stamped my owls again onto some white cardstock using the same brown ink and colored them with Copic markers (E00 and E31).  I cut out each owl and then layered them onto the tree.  I hope you can tell from the close up that I used a really light Copic marker (BG0000) on the outer edges of the tree circles to give them some distinction.  As a final touch to the tree, I added some diamond jewels to make the tree look frosty.

To finish the card, I added Happy Holidays (B1115) with brown ink, attached a ribbon, and layered everything onto mocha cardstock and a pool colored notecard.

Droppin' a Lion

Is it just me, or is anyone else really exited about the "What's in the Box" release?  I saw that Dave just posted pictures of the new papers on his blog.  Aren't they wonderful?  Plus, he posted pictures of the new stamps on the Memory Box site.  Very, very exiting!  I know there are a few more items that aren't pictured on either site, so stay tuned for even more.

Before I start posting samples using the new supplies, I wanted to share a card using the Hear Me Roar Clear Set (CL131).  I hope you can tell from the picture that there is a window in the card, and the lion is stamped on the inside.  To make the card, I ran my card and Glitterati paper through an Accu-Cut machine to make a circle window card.  I then added some Sweetcorn cardstock to the inside of the card so that it would be yellow instead of white.  I stamped the lion and saying on the inside of the card using black Memento ink and colored the image with Copic markers.  I tried to pick markers that would pick up some of the colors found in the paper.

Bears Repeating

What better way to express "this bears repeating" than by stamping a whole bunch of repeating bears?  I love plays on words!

To make this card, I stamped a bear from the High Wire Bear clear set (CL134) onto white cardstock using black Memento ink.  I looked at the spaces to color on the card and then decided it would be faster to color around the bears than to color the bears themselves.  I then colored the background with a blue Copic marker and the vests with a green Copic marker.  To finish the card, I mounted the saying onto lagoon colored cardstock and then placed everything onto a granny smith card.

Just a Note

For today's card I wanted to feature a quick and easy card using the Little Birdie clear set (CL133).   It is a really easy card to mass-produce and have on hand!

To make the card, I stamped the tree branch onto Sweetcorn cardstock using brown Memento ink.  The leaves were colored with a Lime Green Copic marker, and the branches were shaded with Warm Grey #1.  I wanted the bird to hang off the square, so I stamped it onto some Sweet Corn cardstock, colored it with Copic markers, cut out the image, and glued it onto the Sweetcorn square.  To finish the card, layered everything onto a Mocha square and then onto a Gourd notecard.

Elephants Part 3

I am posting the final card of my elephant series.  It took me the longest to make because I needed to make three masks in order to do all of he stamping on the card.  Once I cut the masks, the actually stamping and coloring didn't take that long to complete. 

I really like to use Eclipse Tape when making my masks because it is a durable material that lasts a long time.  I figure if I take the time to cut some masks, I want to save them for future use. 

To make the card, I repeatedly masked and stamped my elephants using Black Memento ink and colored them with a C1 Copic marker.  I then added the saying to the top to finish the card.

Elephants Part 2

Like Friday's post, today's card features the elephant and saying from the All Ears clear set (CL130).  This time the card took me a little longer than the first.  I added some additional layers and made my own embellishment by combining a purple flower and a punched out Memory Box saying for the center.

To make the card, I stamped the elephant onto white cardstock using Black Memento ink.  I colored the elephant with a C! Copic marker and added the Cappa Flourish (B1264) to the top and bottom of the white cardstock. I added a Concord Grape mat to my white cardstock and added a strip of the same paper to the center of my card.  To finish, I layered everything onto a Wisteria notecard.

Fun with Elephants

For my next few posts, I want to share cards that use the All Ears clear set (CL130).  The elephants are just too cute!  As an additional thought, I wanted to start with a card I consider "quick and easy" and progress to cards that take a bit more time.

I made today's card in about 5-10 minutes.  I sometimes forget that I can make cards that don't take me forever to create!  To make it a quick card, I left out extra layers, didn't cut out any elements, and didn't worry about elaborate coloring.  Easy!

To make the card, I stamped the large elephant onto a water notecard with black Memento ink and colored it with a C1 Copic marker.  I added a bit of C3 Copic marker to the toenails and tail.  To finish the coloring, I added some green Copic marker the bottom as grass and colored the flowers with Prismacolor colored pencils.  I couldn't completely ignore embellishments, and added some Canary jewels to the centers of the flowers.

Sorry I Forgot

So, how many of you end up sending belated birthday cards?  I am ashamed to admit that even though I make a lot of cards, I send my fair share of late cards.  For this particular card, I stamped "happy birthday" on the inside.  However, it could be used to make amends for anything else that was forgotten.

To make this card, I stamped an elephant from the All Ears Clear Set (CL130) onto white cardstock using black Memento ink.  I colored him with my C1 Copic marker and his toenails with my C5 Copic marker.  The bubbles are a combination of a B24 Copic marker and some waterfall Stickles for sparkle.  I added a bow made from waxed linen and a saying from the same stamp set.  Finally, I glued everything onto a Russian Sage notecard and added some circles punched from sapphire, blueberry, and ocean cardstock to match the circles of the elephant's bubbles.

Floral Thanks

I thought a good way to start the week would be to make a card that was nice and bright.  Maybe the bright colors will overshadow the fact that it is Monday!

For today's card, I stamped a flower from the Little Birdie Clear Set (CL133) repeatedly onto white cardstock using black Memento ink to create my own patterned paper.  I then colored the flowers with yellow, orange, red, and green Copic Markers.  To finish the card, I added some canary yellow jewels, a black ribbon, and a tag that uses the word "thanks" from the Hear Me Roar Clear Set (CL131).

Happy Birthday Bear

I mentioned in my last post that the new Memory Box clear sets were made to be Earth-friendly.  Along that same vein, I decided to recycle some of the packaging from my High Wire Bear set (CL134).  When I pulled the stamps out of the package, I saw that they had a really cool scalloped background behind them.  That same scallop paper is the background for my birthday bear card.  I couldn't throw away scallops!

To make the card, I stamped the rug onto the scalloped paper and then paper pieced some Biscotti paper on top.  I then stamped the bear onto white paper using black Memento ink and colored him with Copic markers.  The only stamp on the card that didn't come from the High Wire set was the balloon (B284).  To finish the card, I added some white pearls, a canary jewel, and added some clear glaze pen to the balloon to make it look more realistic.
