The new Heart Rays and Sweet Seal get ready to celebrate Valentine's Day - and the midpoint of our Blog Blitz.  A versatile greeting from the new Wirework Hearts Clear Stamp Set becomes a Valentine message with the addition of a diecut heart.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here - hope this card makes you smile today!

MemoryBoxJanuary2018Release-MemoryBoxSweetSeal-MemoryBoxHeartRays-MemoryBoxWireworksHeartClearStampSet-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxValentines-DiecutValentines-SealCards

Cut a 4-¼" x 5-½" Wrapped Stitch Rectangle from white cardstock.  Cut it with Heart Rays.

Cut Sweet Seal from speckled gray cardstock or a scrap of cardboard.  Attach a scrap of black cardstock behind the eye and nose cutouts.  Cut another seal from black cardstock and layer it for dimension and a bit of a shadow.  Lightly sponge the edges with Lightning Black Brilliance.

Stamp the greeting on white cardstock with Lightning Black.  Trim it with the 1" x 2-¼" Rectangle Basics die.

Cut the large heart from Heart Rays (hidden behind the seal in the photos) from bubblegum pink cardstock.  Stamp it - at an angle to match Heart Rays -  with the "day" portion of the greeting.

Attach the diecuts to an A-6 (6-¼" x 4-⅝") bubblegum pink card - use foam dots to attach the greeting.  Add gold gem stickers

New Distressed Heart Collage, Dibble Heart Border and Have a Heart by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxDistressedHeartCollage-MemoryBoxDibbleHeartBorder-MemoryBoxHaveAHeartSet-MemoryBoxFeatheredFriendsDeepEdgeDies-JeanOkimoto-DiecutValentines-BirdValentines-CollageValentines-MemoryBoxDeepEdgeDies-ImpressCardsAndCrafts-ShizenDesigns

The new Distressed Heart Collage, Dibble Heart Border and Have a Heart create a bold background for the happy owl from the Feathered Friends Deep Edge Dies.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here, with a Spring 2018 Release preview Valentine card for you today.

The Distressed Heart Collage set of four cool/vintage/bold/edgy designs  creates great backgrounds - and little heart cutouts in a array of versatile sizes.  They make sweet DIY accents from glittered cardstock, mirror cardstock, felt and vellum.  This set will definitely earn a place in your stash.

Cut the Distressed Heart Collage from black cardstock.  It's not torn along the edges - that's what it's supposed to look like - I promise!  Cut gold glittered cardstock with the same Distressed Heart Collage die.  Save the outlines for another project - it's too pretty to toss.  Use three - or as many as you wish - of the sparkly heart cutouts here.

Cut the red cardstock heart with a Have a Heart die.

Cut the Feathered Friends owl from printed paper - like this cool screenprint from Shizen Design.  Cut another owl from black cardstock to layer for dimension and bit of a shadow effect along the right and bottom edges.

Cut the face from textured natural cardstock. Cut the wing from gold glittered cardstock.

Here's an improvement of technique I shared earlier.  Stick two layers of orange cardstock together with doublestick tape to add dimension to the little pieces. The deep edge dies are great for cutting through multiple layers.  Scribble a portion of it with a black Sharpie.  Position the eyes+beak die on the cardstock so it cuts the black section just for the eyes - and the orange section for the beak.  That's a lot easier than cutting the pieces from black and orange cardstock.  It's also beats trying to color the tiny eye circles with a black marker (like I did earlier).   Live and learn!

Cut red glittered cardstock with Dibble Heart Border for that little heart on the owl.

Attach the diecuts to an A-6 card (4-⅝" x 6-¼") of kraft cardstock.  No need to add sequins or gems - it's already blinged!

New Heart Rays and Have a Heart with the Feathered Friends Deep Edge Dies by Jean Okimoto

P1020645

Happy New Year!  Here's a preview of our latest release...introducing the new Heart Rays and Have a Heart dies.  The Spring 2018 Release of  dies and clear stamp sets starts shipping this week and the Design Team is busy creating Valentine projects to share with you.

Hello - Jean Okimoto here - let's start with two classic heart designs that will never go out of style.  Here they are - with a happy bird from the Feathered Friends Deep Edge dies.

P1020656

Cut the heart from natural and red cardstock.  Cut the natural heart again with a portion of the Heart Rays die.  Layer them - slightly offset - and attach them to a side-folded A-2 card of textured natural cardstock.

Cut the Feathered Friends bird from sage cardstock and printed paper.  Attach the printed portion to an extra layer of sage cardstock for more dimension.

Cut the wing from gold glittered cardstock.

The beak, eye and rosy cheek are on one die.  Cut them from watercolor paper.  Color them with markers.

Assemble the bird and attach it to the card - angle it so it looks like he's whistling a lovesong.  (I hope!)  Use foam dots on the tail section.

Add gold gem stickers.

P1020653

The 5-piece Have a Heart set ranges from 4.5" to 1.7" tall - perfect for all of your projects.  You'll love them for heart-shaped cards and tags for weddings, anniversaries, birthday and baby cards throughout the year.

The Heart Rays die is designed to cut cool little stitches across the width of an A-2 card - and seven hearts that are just waiting to be glittered or layered over mirror cardstock, velvet paper or vellum.

They're just two of many versatile new designs for Valentine's Day, Spring, birthdays and any occasion that calls for a unique card that you've designed to make it an extra-special event.

Thanks for visiting - join us for Laura's great project tomorrow!

Snow Bunny Becomes a Friendly Puppy On Stitched Curves by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxSnowBunnyDeepEdgeDie-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxStitchedCurves-MemoryBoxSentimentailIrisClearStamps-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxDeepEdgeDies-DogCards-DiecutDogCards-FriendCards-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

The Deep Edge Snow Bunny die set creates a sweet bunny and - with a bit of creativity - a friendly little puppy too!  Hi everyone - Jean Okimoto here, on the last weekend of a very busy year.  I love using Memory Box dies in unique ways - and this may be an extreme makeover - but I think he looks quite spiffy.  Hope you agree!

MemoryBoxSnowBunnyDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxStitchedCurves-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxOpenStudioSentimentalIrisClearStamps-JeanOkimoto-DiecutDogCards

Cut the head and midsection from kraft cardstock.  Cut three paws from dark kraft cardstock - one will be his mouth.

Cut his arms from dark kraft cardstock - they'll be his back paws.  Hind paws?

Cut two midsections from printed paper and fold them to form floppy ears.  I've used this great print from Shizen Designs - Impress can order it for you.  It's item #HP1172.  Love how the lines converge and curve to add dimension.

Cut the body and the angled scarf section from printed paper.  The scarf section will be a tail.

Cut the straight scarf section from red felt attached to adhesive label paper for stability.  That's his collar!

Cut eyes and a nose from black cardstock.  Cut the nose from pink cardstock for a tongue.

Assemble the bunny-turned-into-a-puppy.  Use foam dots for the ears and head

Cut two layers of Stitched Curves from textured natural cardstock.  Glue them together, then trim them with the long edge of the 4" x 5-¼" Rectangle Basics die.  Borders a bit shorter than the card create neat edges that don't look bulky.

Stamp the greeting - from the Sentimental Iris Clear Stamps Set - on a 5-½" square card of textured natural cardstock with Lightning Black Brilliance.  Dry the ink and attach the pup.  Add a red glittered heart sticker and gold gem stickers.

Square and thick cards require extra postage - but I think this little guy and his kind message will brighten someone's day.

MemoryBoxBubbleBurst-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxCocktailHour-JeanOkimoto-DiecutNewYearsCards-DiecutCocktailCards-GlitteredCards-GlitteredDiecutCards-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Celebrate the arrival of 2018 with a splashy Bubble Burst and tiny Cocktail Hour glasses - very glittered, of course!  Hello, Jean Okimoto here,  with a New Year card featuring some of my favorite Memory Box dies.

MemoryBoxBubbleBurst-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxCocktailHour-JeanOkimoto

Cut white cardstock with the 2" x 3-¼ Rectrangle Basics die.  Cut it with a portion of the Bubble Burst die.  Attach a slightly smaller rectangle of double-stick tape or laminating film behind the diecut.  Brush ultra-fine gold glitter onto the adhesive in the open areas.

Cut pale coral cardstock with the  2-¼" x 3-½" Rectangle Basics die.  Attach it behind the glittered Bubble Burst.

Cut three ¾" wide accent strips - 4-¾" long of gray cardstock, 3-½"  long of pale pink glittered cardstock and 2-½" long of pale coral cardstock.

Cut the larger cocktail glasses from light gold, gold and coral glittered cardstock.  Cut six more cocktail glasses from cardboard scraps and attach two behind each glittered glass for dimension.

Attach the diecuts to a top-folded 5-½" square card of textured white cardstock.  Attach a mini-calendar.  Add silver gem stickers.  These little calendars are from Impress.

Merry, Light and Bright…Tisdale Snowflake Collage, Starlight Snowflake Collage and Piccolo Snowflakes by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxTilsdaleSnowflakeCollage-MemroyBoxStarlightSnowflakeCollage-MemoryBoxPiccoloSnowflakes-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxSnowflakes-SnowflakeCandles-VellumDiecuts-CandleSleeves-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

The Tisdale Snowflake Collage and Starlight Snowflake Collage dies are perfect for super-fast projects on this eve of Christmas eve.  Simple vellum candle sleeves take just a few minutes and add another reason to have these beautiful contemporary dies in your personal Memory Box Collection.    Hello, Jean Okimoto here tonight with a quick project for your dining table, mantle or windowsill.

MemoryBoxTisdaleSnowflakeCollage-MemoryBoxStarlightSnowflakeCollage-MemoryBoxPiccoloSnowflakes-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxCo.com-VellumSnowflakeDesigns-CandleDecor

Cut a sheet of white vellum sized to fit around big and little battery-operated candles with a ½" overlap.  Diecut the large piece three times with the Tisdale Snowflake Collage placed slightly diagonally.  Cut the three  uncut areas with the Starlight Snowflake Collage.  Wrap the vellum around the candle.

Oops...you'll probably notice that the curvature of the candle pushes the center portion of one of the large Tisdale snowflakes out like little spikes.  Attach Scor-Tape behind a scrap of white vellum and cut the smallest Piccolo Snowflake three times.   Carefully attach these self-adhesive Piccolo snowflakes over the center of the defiant Tisdale snowflake points to secure the little pieces.  They're the center top and bottom snowflakes in the picture above.  The delicate Piccolo snowflake not only controls the little pokies - it also adds a bit of dimension to the collage.

Cut the small strips of vellum with the Starlight Snowflake Collage.  Wrap the vellum around the candles.

That's it...done!

Tiny Tree Triplet, Sketchbook Joy, Starlit Breeze and Rectangle Basics by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxTinyTreeTriplet-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxSketchbookJoy-MemoryBoxStarlitBreeze-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxCoChristmasCards-DiecutChristmasCards-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Six little trees -  from the new Tiny Tree Triplet set - create a quick and easy last-minute holiday greeting.  Glittery gold stars and a matching Sketchbook Joy add the finishing touch.  Hi - Jean Okimoto here - with my final card of the season for you today.

MemoryBoxTinyTreeTriplet-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxCoChristmasCards-ChristmasCardsWithDiecuts

Cut smooth white cardstock with the 1-½" x 2-¾" Rectangle Basics die.  Cut it with the 6-trees die.  Cut turquoise, red and green cardstock with the 1-¼" x 2-½" Rectangle Basics die.  This great rectangles set eliminates the guesswork, measuring - and hoping the colored rectangles won't show along the edges of the white rectangle.  Christmas is just four days away - this will be quick!

Cut the turquoise rectangles with the 5-trees die.  Cut the red rectangle with the 3-trees die.  Layer the turquoise, red and green rectangles behind the white piece.

Cut Sketchbook Joy from green glittered cardstock - it'll be easy to remove the delicate diecut if you place a layer of medium-weight plastic (like a shopping bag) between the die and the cardstock.  Save the little dot that goes above the "j."  The plastic-covered diecut will slip right out of the die.  Just peel the plastic off, then wiggle the negative sections away from the "joy" instead of vice-versa.  It works, trust me!

Cut ¾" x 4-½"  and ¾" x 3-¾"" accent strips of turquoise and red cardstock.

Cut gold glittered cardstock stars with the Starlit Breeze die.

Attach everything to a top-folded A-2 card of textured white cardstock.

Classic Ornament Triplet, Wrapped Stitch Rectangles, Millbrook Ornament and Sketchbook Joy by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxClassicOrnamentTriplet,MemoryBoxMillbrookOrnament,MemoryBoxSketchbookJoy,MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles,MemoryBoxRectangleBasics,JeanOkimoto,MemoryBoxChristmasCards,OrnamentCards,DiecutChristmasCards,ContemporaryChristmasCards,ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Create a Classic Ornament Triplet card in bright pastels for a colorful, contemporary Christmas greeting.  The colors may be unusual but the holiday message is clear - and glitter makes everything better, doesn't it?  Hi, Jean Okimoto here, with another "triplet" design for you today.

MemoryBoxClassicOrnamentTriplet-MemoryBoxSketchbookJoy-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles-MemoryBoxMillbrookOrnament-JeanOkimoto

Cut lime cardstock with the 2" x 3-¼" Stitched Rectangle Trimmings die.  Cut the rectangle with the delicate diamond  Classic Ornament Triplet die.

Cut turquoise cardstock with the 1-¾" x 3 Rectangle Basics die. Cut the rectangle with the solid diamond Classic Rectangle die.  Using the Rectangle Basics die eliminates guessing, measuring and hoping the turquoise rectangle will fit behind the lime rectangle.  It also forms a smoother layer for adhering the pieces.

Cut a scrap of pink glittered cardstock to fit behind the cutouts.

Cut the Millbrook Ornament cap and hanger from silver glittered cardstock.

Cut Sketchbook Joy from pink glittered cardstock - be sure to save the tiny dot that goes over the "j."

Cut a strip of violet cardstock with the long edge of the 4-¾" x 3-½" Rectangle Basics die.  Cut a strip of turquoise cardstock with the short edge of the same die.  Trim both strips to about ¾" wide.  Using the Rectangle Basics die for accent strips makes it easy to cut coordinating pieces in just the right length...without measuring!

Attach the diecuts to a top-folded 5-½" square gray card.  Add clear gem stickers.

MemoryBoxClassicOrnamentTriplet-MemoryBoxSketchbookJoy-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles-MemoryBoxMillbrookOrnament-JeanOkimoto-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

The Classic Ornament Triplet set is great for personalizing cards with unique colors.  Bright colors, glittered cardstock and a few gem stickers add up to quick and easy designs for everyone on your list.

If you're in the Seattle area - and looking for more clean and simple designs  - join us for the ASIAN INSPIRATION Class at Impress on Saturday December 9th.  We're making a mini calendar and a New Year's card using some of our favorite dies and artpapers.  Shop with a 10% class discount too - for class supplies, and all of the latest papercrafting products. Tiny Ornament Triplet, Snowflake Wire and Wrapped Stitch Rectangles by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxTinyOrnamentTriplets-MemoryBoxSnowflakeWire-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles-MemoryBoxOpenStudioGardenSketches-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxChristmasCards-OrnamentCards-SnowflakeCards-DiecutChristmasCards-DistressOxides-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Tiny Ornament Triplet - one of three triplet sets - is great for a less-is-more design!  Add a delicate Snowflake Wire, glitter and the "little things" greeting from the Garden Sketches coordinating clear stamp and die sets.  Merry and minimal!

Hope you're enjoying your weekend - Jean Okimoto here tonight - with a simple little design for you.  The Tiny Ornament Triplet set confused me at first - I'm very easily confused.  Cut it from different shades of cardstock and play with the layering combinations - and you'll love the designs you can create.

MemoryBoxTinyOrnamentTriplet-MemoryBoxSnowflakeWire-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles-JeanOkimoto-OrnamentCards-MemoryBoxChristmasCards

Cut bright fuchsia cardstock with the 2" x 3-¼" Wrapped Stitch Rectangle and the 5-ornament die.

Cut green and lime cardstock with the 1-¾" x 3" Rectangle Basics die.

Cut the green rectangle with the 4-ornament die.  Cut the lime rectangle with the 3-ornament die.

Layer the 3 rectangles and cover the entire back with Scor-tape.  Brush Impress Sparkle Glitter onto the adhesive in the first, third and fifth ornaments.  Shop the Impress collections of Memory Box and Poppystamps while you're there!

Cut Snowflake Wire from white cardstock.

Stamp the greeting - from the Garden Sketches Clear Stamp Set - on lime carstock with Black Soot Distress Oxides and emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut it with the matching die from the Garden Sketches Die Set.

MemoryBoxTinyOrnamentTriplet-MemoryBoxSnowflakeWire-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles-MemoryBoxOpenStudioGardenSketches-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxChristmasCards-SnowflakeCards-OrnamentCards

Attach everything to a side-folded white A-2 card.  Add gold gem stickers.

I'll be designing more cards featuring the Triplet Dies - you'll love how they work together to create cool, contemporary designs.  I enjoy making cards that have people asking "how do you do that?" - and sharing the process with you.  Thank goodness for Memory Box and Dave's designs - imagine a world without dies!

Thanks for stopping by - see you again next week.

Feathered Friends Deep Edge Dies, Snowflake Ring and Circle Basics by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxFeatheredFriendsDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxSnowflakeRing-MemoryBoxOpenStudioMerryChristmasSentimentsClearStamps-MemoryBoxCircleBasics-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxChristmasDesigns-BirdCards-SnowflakeCards-ShizenDesigns-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Let a festive member of the new Feathered Friends Deep Edge Dies trio brighten your holiday cards.  This cheery bird would be happy in any color combo - like pinks and reds for your favorite gal-friends.  Or "he"  would be great in greens and blues for the guys, especially those Seahawks fans.  Keep the gray background and white Snowflake Ring - just change the accent strips, circle and gem stickers.

Hello, Jean Okimoto here today, with the details behind my December Challenge inspiration card.  The Feathered Friends Deep Edge dies are great with felt, heavy handmade artpapers, cork, fabric and wood veneer strips.  I've chosen some of my favorite papers  from Shizen Design - the pretty pink/red print and embossed red floral pattern.  Bits of felt create the eye, beak and rosy cheek.

MemoryBoxFeatheredFriendsDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxSnowflakeRing-MemoryBoxCircleBasics-MemoryBoxMerryChristmasSentimentsClearStamps-JeanOkimoto

Diecut the shapes from artpapers.  Cut the background from neutral cardstock.  Cut the facial features from black, orange and pale peach wool-blend felt backed with a layer of adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet.  The backing stabilizes the little pieces and keep adhesives from soaking through.

Cut the white Snowflake Ring and a light pink Circle Basics background to fit behind the ring.  Stamp the greeting - from the Open Studio Merry Christmas Sentiments Clear Stamp Set - with Iced Spruce Distress Oxides.  Cut a ¾" x 5-⅝" strip of red cardstock.

Attach Scor-Tape to bright pink cardstock and cut a 4-¾" x ¾" strip.  Brush ultra-fine iridescent glitter over the adhesive.  Impress Sparkle Glitter makes anything look great - even those scary shades of cardstock and strange printed papers hiding in your stash!  It's just $4.95 for a generous supply of this wonderful stuff.

Attach everything to a gray A-6 (4-⅝" x 6-¼") card - use foamdots for the bird.  Add red gem stickers.

MemoryBoxFeatheredFriendsDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxSnowflakeRing-MemoryBoxCircleBasics-MemoryBoxMerryChristmasSentimentsClearStamps-JeanOkimoto

Thanks for stopping by - hope you'll be inspired to create unique and special cards for everyone on your Christmas list.  See you again this evening...I'll be switching from today's  big bird to tiny ornaments for tonight's card!
