Jolly Old Santa
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Weekend! Today I have a fun way to brighten up your gift bags this holiday season using on of the new deep cut dies. Let's get started!

Melissa1

I used the super cute Jolly Old Santa die and used some fun papers to put him together. To give him a little bit of a vintage look I ran some brown chalk ink around all of the die cut pieces. Then I glued all of the pieces and put them on a brown gift bag. With the deep edge dies you could cut out a bunch at one time and then decorate all of your gift bags for the holiday season. Just be sure to use a metal shim if you are cutting more than one layer of paper.

The die made this gift bag so quick and easy and you know that no one else will have the same bag under the tree this year!

Have a wonderful and crafty weekend!

Snowy Mountain Christmas
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Tuesday! Today I wanted to share a fun Christmas card with you all that is just a little bit snowy. Let's get started!

Melissa1

For this card I started with the new Wrapped Circles to build my scene. I cut one out in white paper and another in blue. Then I used the Stitched Mountains die as the focus of my winter scene. I cut the mountains out in gray and then used a white glitter paper to give them snowy caps.

Melissa2

I used the glitter paper again to cut the Stitched Tree Horizon to finish off my snowy mountain forest. It looks a little bit like the place where my family spends Christmas each year.

Melissa3

To complete the card I used a blue glitter paper for the Brushed Merry Christmas and then I added some small snowflake sequins to complete the winter scene. It is all placed on a piece of dark wood gain paper and glued to a card.

I hope you get a chance to create your own winter scene this week!

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Today I have a pretty winter card to share with you using some of the dies from the latest Memory Box release. Let's get started!

FullSizeRender (2)

I started with the new Wrapped Circles die set and cut out one in white and the next largest size out in a blue glitter paper. Then I took the beautiful Starlight Snowflake Collage and cut it in the white circle. I layered the circles together using foam tape to give my card some dimension.

I placed the card on two coordinating colors of blue paper. To finish it off and add some extra magic and sparkle I used the Festival of Lights sequins set. It was the perfect color for my card today.

I hope you have a wonderful week and get some time to make something fun and fabulous!

Pretty Poinsettias
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Thursday friends! Today I have a fun card that is full of texture. I decided to break out my embossing pad to create today's card. Let's get started!

IMG_6607

I used the Poinsettia Oval die for the focal point of my card. I ran it through my die cutting machine with the embossing rubber mat. Depending on your machine the layers you run through will change. It created this beautiful embossed oval that I cut out with the Studio Oval Layers.

IMG_6607

I glued it onto an embossed dot card stock onto a red card from Memory Box. I die cut the Merry Christmas Perky Script die in a red glitter paper. I was able to curve the word Christmas a bit to follow the line of the oval and then I glued the word merry in the space above it.

If you haven't tried embossing with your dies I would encourage you to give it a shot. It's so much fun and it gives you another look for all of your beautiful dies. Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

Merry Christmas!
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Friday friends! It seems like as soon as November starts it's all Christmas all the time. Today I have a quick and easy Christmas card to help get you started on all that holiday crafting!

Melissa1

I started with the beautiful Chancery Snowflake die and cut it out in white. Then I die cut the Brush Merry Christmas in a silver glitter paper. I glued both of these to a navy blue card stock and then placed them on a white card.

Melissa2

I added some clear gems to the snowflake to really make it pop. That was it, a simple card that would be easy to make a lot of this busy time of year.

Thanks for stopping by the blog, have a great weekend!

Thank You Kindly
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Tuesday! It is finally starting to look and feel like Fall here this week so I have a fun stamped card inspired by the season. Let's get started!

IMG_6440

For this card I used the fabulous Garden Sketches clear stamp set. I started with the many leaves on a cream piece of paper. I put a bunch of the outline leaves stamps on my clear block and stamped them in brown ink a few times to start my pattern. Then I took the corresponding solid leaves and stamped them over the outlines in a few different Fall colors. I offset the solid colors a little bit to add some interest to the pattern I created.

IMG_6441

I stamped the Thank You Kindly on a scrap of cream and cut it out. Then I layered it on a green piece of paper before putting it on the card. For the green and brown layers of paper I wanted them to match my inks so I created my own paper. I took a cream piece of paper and then I rubbed the brown ink on each side of the paper to get one that would work for my card. I did the same thing with the green ink and another piece of paper. Now you will always have paper that matches all of the stamping you did!

IMG_6442

To finish the card I layered all of the papers on to a kraft card and then I added a gem to finish it off. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

A Spooky Box
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Weekend Friends! Today I have a fun Halloween pop up box card to share with you, let's get started.

IMG_6434

For the box I used a tutorial I found online, there are so many ways to make this type of card. I found some directions and then cut and scored the black card stock to make the box. Then I used some of the fun Memory Box papers to decorate the sides of the box.

IMG_6435

I cut the Whimsy Bat three times in black paper and then used a Wink of Stella glitter pen to give the bats some sparkle. Googly eyes make them extra fun. For the pumpkins I used an orange velvet paper and put them inside the box. To finish it off I added the Whimsy Ghost to the back with some more fun googly eyes. This type of card is so fun to make and it doubles as a cute decoration for your home.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Boo!
by Melissa Rusk

Happy weekend friends! Today I have a fun shaped card to share with you, perfect for Halloween.

IMG_6408

For my card base I used a Persimmon note card and I die cut it with the largest circle in the Studio Circle Layers set making sure to leave a part of the fold so the card still opens. Then I cut the Circle Web Collage in black and used another circle from the layers set to cut it out. I added some sparkle with a Wink of Stella glitter pen to make the web shine before gluing it to the card.

IMG_6409

I added the super cute Whimsy Ghost in white to the card and gave him some eyes with some stickers that I had. To finish the card I die cut the Playful Boo in black and added some Wink of Stella to the letters before gluing them to the card.

This would be fun to add to a treat bag or to just send off in the mail. I hope you have a great weekend!

A Fall Sunset
by Melissa Rusk

Today I wanted to share a fun technique to make a sunset to accompany some of the new dies from the Fall release. Let's get crafting!

IMG_6208

To create this fun background I used the Distress Oxide inks on photo paper. I layered the colors Spiced Marmalade and Wild Honey by placing some in on a non-stick mat and sprayed it with water. Then I dragged the photo paper through it and then dried it with a heat tool. I repeated this step until the paper was covered to my liking, the colors will be dull at this point. To make them bright I took a baby wipe and wiped it over the photo paper to create the bright and shiny background.

IMG_6209

It's so much fun! To finish off the card I cut the House Trio and Curved Hilltop dies to create a scene. I glued it all to a pretty Concord colored note card to finish off. It would make a cute Halloween card or a Fall card.

I hope you try out this fun technique!

You Make Me Smile
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Friday! Today I have a fun way to dress up the Cozy Mugs with some ink and some stamps, let's get started!

Melissa1

These mugs are so cute and can be used for so many different occasions depending on how you decorate them. For my card today I die cut one of each size mug in the set in white card stock. For the largest mug I masked off a line using some post it tape and inked the teal stripe with a foam blending tool. I repeated this with a slightly smaller strip on the bottom of the mug in a navy ink.

Melissa2

For the dotted mug I used the dot stamp in the Bird Sanctuary stamp set for the fun pattern. I just stamped repeatedly until the whole mug was covered. For the last mug I used both techniques, I inked the bottom of the mug and stamped the top portion. To finish off the card I stamped my sentiment on the largest mug and then added a line of gems on the navy stripe. The mugs are all stacked on a piece of paper that I cut with the largest die in the Pinpoint Rectangle set and layered on to a piece of navy dot paper.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today, have a fabulous weekend!
