Peace
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Friday! Today I have a clean and simple card that is perfect for the rush of the holiday season.

IMG_8648

I started with a navy blue card and added three strips of silver washi tape, leaving a little space in between each piece of tape to create the background of my card.

Then I die cut the Winged Dove in a white card stock and I used some foam tape to glue it to the card over my washi tape stripes. I then cut the Peace Cheshire Script in white and glued it to the card under the stripes of washi tape.

This clean and simple design could be used with a variety of Memory Box dies. Switch out the dove for a snowflake and change the sentiment to Merry Christmas. You could also change up the colors and make birthday cards or thank you cards with the same design. Make a few cards with different sentiments and this same simple design to make a cute set for a gift. The possibilities are endless!

Thanks for stopping by the blog and have a wonderful weekend!

Spooky Fun!
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Saturday Friends! Today I have a fun and a little bit spooky Halloween card to share using one of the new dies from the Holiday release. Let's get started!

IMG_8640

For my spooky purple background I covered a white sheet of paper with a purple Distress Oxide ink with a foam blending tool. Once all of the paper was covered with ink I sprayed it with water to create the oxide magic. Then I added a spray of a shimmer mist to make it sparkle.

I die cut the Woodland Bridge Frame in black and then covered it with clear Wink of Stella to make it sparkle. I die cut a circle moon and added a little bit of ink before gluing it all to my card.

My final touch was the eyes. I glued them to the scene in a few different places to look like a spooky creature peeking out at you. Thanks for visiting the blog today and have a fabulous and crafty weekend!

Let it Snow
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Friday! I love that the challenge this month is all about one of my favorite things, washi tape. I have built up a large stash over the years so I decided to break some of it out for my card today.

IMG_8575

I knew I wanted to use the Crystal Snowflakes on my card so when I went to my washi tape drawer I kept that in mind. I picked some silver, blue, teal and black tapes, some with glitter and some without to use on my background. I cut out a piece of white paper and started in the top corner with my tapes on a diagonal and secured them next to each other, filling in colors and patterns as I liked. It was so much fun and made me want to make more use of my tapes.
IMG_8575

I kept the bottom portion of the cardstock without tape so I would have room to stamp my sentiment from the Typewriter Holiday Sentiments set. This stamp set is so great and I have already gotten a ton of use out of it, so many great sayings! I glued three of the snowflakes that I die cut in white and covered with a Clear Wink of Stella glitter pen. I added some clear gems on the snowflakes to make them sparkle a little more to finish off the card.

Thanks for stopping by the blog! I hope you pull out some tape and enter the challenge this month that was posted on the 1st!

Glad Tidings
by Melissa Rusk

IMG_8563

Happy Monday! Today I am sharing a fun technique and one of the beautiful dies from the new release. I die cut the Delicate Pine Frame in white for my card and used some glitter to create snow on the tree branches. For the background I took a piece of photo paper and some liquid water colors. I put a few drops of the different colors on the paper and then sprayed them with water to get the color to move around the paper. I took a paper towel at the sides to collect some of the extra water as it ran off. Then I just let it dry. So easy and fun!
IMG_8563

I used foam tape to glue down the frame and then I stamped and embossed the glad tidings sentiment from the Typewriter Holiday Sentiments stamp set to finish it off. Have a wonderful week!

Nativity Circle
by Melissa Rusk

Hello friends! Today I have a card to share using more of the fabulous dies from the latest Memory Box release. Let's make a card!

IMG_8502

I combined a few different dies today. I started with the outside frame from the Country Church Frame in white. For the background pieces I used the Distress Oxide inks in a purple and teal color. After covering my paper with ink, I sprayed it with water to create the magic, it shows up the best on the dark purple background.

I die cut the Sunburst Stripe Circle and then covered it with a yellow Distress Oxide ink and added some water drops. Then I started to add everything to my square card. The top layer is the beautiful Nativity Circle die. I layered it towards the bottom of the Sunburst Stripe Circle on the front.

Snow Much Fun!
by Melissa Rusk

Welcome to day 2 of the Memory Box Blog Blitz! Today I am highlighting one of the brand new stamp sets, Snow Much Fun!

Melissa

For my card today I started with a background of Distress Oxide in a teal color and sprayed it with water to give it the cool oxide look. Then I created some snow with glitter, to make it all sparkle.
Melissa2

I stamped my images and colored them in with Copic markers and die cut the out. To give the scarves more detail after I colored them I took the colorless blender and added dots to one and lines to the other one to give them a fun texture. I added my die cut and colored bunnies to the card with foam tape to make them stand out.

Now for the fun part of this post! Want a chance to win the new Snow Much Fun stamp set?  Leave a comment to this post by Sunday, August 12th.  Once comment will be chosen at random to win the stamp.  The winner will be posted on the Outside the Box blog on Monday, August 13th at 6pm EST. All is Calm, All is Bright
by Melissa Rusk

Hello and happy Friday friends! Today I have another card using one of the fabulous new dies from the new release. They are all so beautiful and so much fun to work with!

IMG_8498

I started with the beautiful Holiday Lamp Post Frame die and cut it out in white. I cut a circle in white to fit inside the frame and used some of my Distress Oxide inks to make a background. I started with a yellow ink where the light in the lamp would be and then finished the rest of the circle in a teal color. When you spray these inks with water the magic happens, the oxide inks give a cool effect and it looks like a winter day.

IMG_8498

I glued everything to a white card and added some silver ribbon and a stamped sentiment from the Typewriter Holiday Sentiments set to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

Woodland Bridge Frame
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Friday friends! Today I have a card using another fabulous die from the new Holiday release, let's make a card!

IMG_8489

This Woodland Bridge Frame die is so fun, you could use it for any season and that deer is just the sweetest. For my card today I started by die cutting everything in white cardstock, then I got to work on my inky background.
IMG_8489

I picked 4 colors of Distress Oxide ink, a teal for the water and then two purples and a yellow for a wintery sunset. I started with the water and my blending tool and then worked my way to the top. If you get a harsh line when adding a new color, go back over it with the previous color ink you used to soften it. I had to do that with the teal and the purples to create a softer change between the colors. Then I made some Oxide ink magic by spraying some water and adding some drops of a glitter mist to create that fun reaction.
IMG_8489

I glued all of the layers to a white card and then added some glitter on the trees and the ground to make it look snowy. Thanks for stopping by the blog today, have a wonderful weekend!

Floating Swan
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Friday everyone! Today I have a fun card using the Floating Swan die to share.

Melissa1

or they background I had some fun with liquid watercolors. I used a sheet of photo paper and placed a few drops of two different blue liquid water colors. Then I sprayed the paper with water and watched the colors move on the paper. I added a gold shimmer spray on top to make it sparkle. Once everything was dry I die cut the Floating Swan in order to get the ripples on the water I created.

Melissa2

Then I die cut the swan in a white paper and used some Copic markers to color it in. I glued it all to a dark blue card and then added some sequins to finish it all off.

If you have some liquid watercolors give them a try on photo paper, super fun way to use them!

Awesome!
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Friday! Today I have an awesome card featuring the fun Wave Ribbon Collage die. Let's get started!

Melissa1

First I cut 4 colors of cardstock all around the same size. I used black, pink, purple and a neon green. For each piece of cardstock I die cut the Wave Ribbon Collage die twice to make it bigger. Once all of the colors were cut, I layered them on top of each other making sure that they did not overlap so you could see each color. I had to trim some of the edges with scissors to make it work.

Melissa2

Then I used the Awesome Jotted Script die and glued it to the card to finish it off. There are so many fun possibilities with the Wave Ribbon Collage, I hope you try it out!
