A Whale of a Good Time
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Friday Friends! I have another look at the fun stamp set Whale Hello There to share with you today for our Blog Blitz.

Melissa

I just love the waves in this stamp set! I stamped them 4 times on the base of my card in a darker ink of the same color to create the background. Then I stamped these cute sea creatures and die cut them using the coordinating die set and colored them with Copic Markers. To add the texture to the whale and the octopus, I used dots of the same colors I used to color each image as well as some dots of the colorless blender. It creates such a fun look.

Melissa2

I stamped my sentiment on a light blue strip of paper and glued it to the card. I added the sea cuties with some foam tape and finished the card off with some sequins.

Now for the fun part! Whale Hello There!
by Melissa Rusk

Welcome to day 3 of the Blog Blitz! Today I have a fun card using the new stamp set Whale Hello There! It has so many cute sea creatures and sayings I know you are going to love.

Melissa

For my card today I started by stamping the whale and die cutting him out. He is super cute! I colored him with my Copic Markers in colors C00, C1, C3 and C5. I added some dots with the markers to give him some texture.

Melissa2

Next I die cut the new Pinpoint Circle Frame. I stamped the waves onto the inside circle using a teal ink and my sentiment in black ink under the outside circle. To put the card together, I used a foam tape to glue the outer white circle to the card and then with a regular tape runner I glued the stamped circle to the card. Some more foam tape for the whale and a few sequins finish off the card.

Now for the fun part! Simple and Sweet Birthday
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Thursday friends! Today I have a sweet and simple birthday card to share with you all. Let's get started!

Melissa1

I picked a simple design and just a few colors to let the dies shine. I die cut the Tall Fern Left Corner in a green and glued it to a white card stock. For the Happy Birthday Friendship Script I used a black mirror card paper to give it that little pop of shine.

Melissa2

I just love using the mirror card paper with words, it takes a simple card to the next level. I glued everything to a teal card base to finish.

Enjoy the rest of the week and thanks for stopping by the blog today!

Neighborly Narwhal
by Melissa Rusk

The new release has so many cute under the sea creatures! Today I made a card using the Neighborly Narwhal die that is great for any occasion.

For my underwater background I used some of the new Distress Oxide inks from Tim Holtz in Cracked Pistachio, Broken China and Faded Jeans. I blended the three colors on water color paper and then sprayed it with water. The result is so fun! I used the Studio Circle dies to cut out a circle from the inked background and cut a larger circle from a blue card stock.

I die cut the narwhal in a gray card stock and his horn from a glitter paper. Then I die cut a few of the small brain coral die in a light blue to add some embellishment. I finished the card with some sequins that look just like bubbles.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

Happy Easter
by Melissa Rusk

It's hard to believe that the month is almost over and that Easter is on it's way. Today I decided to get a jump start on my Easter cards using some of the fabulous new butterfly dies that were just released.

Mellissa

For this card I die cut the Potenza Butterfly Trio out of a pink sparkly paper. I glued them to a white piece of paper that I die cut using the largest rectangle in the Pinpoint Rectangle Layers set.

Melissa2

For the beautiful Happy Easter Journal Script I used a silver mirror card paper. I love how the silver jumps off the card. To finish the card I added some sequins. You could use this same design with a happy birthday or thank you card all year long.

Thanks for stopping by the blog, have a great day!

Avezzano Butterflies
by Melissa Rusk

Spring is just around the corner friends! Today I have a card using the beautiful new Avezzano Butterflies die to share with you.

Melissa1

I wanted this card to feel like stained glass so I used black paper for my die cut. I glued it onto a piece of white watercolor paper so I could use my Zig Clean Color Brush Pens to color in the butterflies. I added some clear gems for the butterfly bodies once everything was colored and dry.

Melissa2

I love a simple and bright card that makes a statement. This could be used for a Spring birthday or even an Easter card. I can't wait to make a few more in some different colors!

Have a great day everyone and thanks for stopping by the blog!

Happy Birthday!
by Melissa Rusk

I don't know about you, but during the Spring months I need a lot of birthday cards. So I decided to get a jump start with this floral birthday card I want to share with you today.

Melissa1

The Stitched Aster Corner and Stitched Aster Blooms dies are so pretty. I die cut the Stitched Aster Corner in a green paper and then die cut the Stitched Aster Blooms in a coral color. I glued them to a white background on a kraft paper card for a simple color scheme.

Melissa2

I am so in love with the Happy Birthday Friendship Script die, it is so beautiful. I know it's going to be one I reach for a lot. For the center of the flowers I used some gold enamel dots to add a little bit of sparkle.

Hope you have a great weekend, thanks for stopping by!

Best of Luck
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Friday friends! Today I have a fun card for St. Patrick's Day or just to send to someone who could use some good luck wishes. Let's get started.

Melissa1

For this card I started by making a fun splatter background using the metallic watercolor set that you can find in the Birch Press shop. They are so fun to play with. I painted some on the background and then I loaded my brush up with watercolor to create the splatters.

Melissa2

I die cut the Pot of Gold in black and gold and used foam tape to glue it to the card. Then I die cut the best of luck in black and attached it to the card. To add just a bit more gold I finished the card off with some sequins.

Thanks for stopping by I hope your weekend is filled with lots of good luck!

by Melissa Rusk

Happy Saturday! Today I have a quick and easy Valentine's Day card if you are in need of something last minute. Let's get started!

Melissa1

For this card I used the new Square Basics Set and die cut three different sizes of squares. One in dark pink, one in light pink and one in white. Then I die cut the beautiful Heart Party Circle in the dark pink card stock and glued it to the white square.

Melissa2

I stamped the xoxo from the So Many Things to Love stamp set in a coordinating pink ink onto the card. To give it a little bit of sparkle, I used my clear Wink of Stella brush pen and added some glitter to the hearts. A quick and easy card for your favorite Valentine.

Have a great weekend!

Thinking of You
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Friday friends! For my card today I had sunsets on my mind. I took that inspiration and came up with a simple thinking of you card that would work for so many occasions.

Melissa1

To create this card I started by die cutting the Tall Fern Left Corner die in black card stock. I placed it on my white card stock to get an idea of where I wanted it. I used some post-it tape to mask off the rectangle where the die cut would go so I could ink my sunset inspired background.

Melissa2

For the inking I started in the bottom left corner with my darkest ink color. I used Tim Holtz Distress inks in Ripe Persimmon, Carved Pumpkin and Squeezed Lemonade. Once it was all inked I took the masking tape off and then I was able to glue my die cut over my sunset. I stamped the thinking of you from the So Many Things to Love stamp set and then added a line of pearls under it.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!
