Pinpoint Snowflake Circle Frame and Classic Ice Skates by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxPinpointSnowflakeCircleFrame-MemoryBoxClassicIceSkates-MemoryBoxBeJollyClearStamps-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-JeanOkimoto-ImagineCrafts-ImpressCardsAndCrafts-SnowflakeCards-GlitteredCards

A very sparkly glittered Pinpoint Snowflake Circle Frame and silver Classic Ice Skates are a great pair for the holidays.  Add a greeting from the Be Jolly Clear Stamps set and pink gem stickers for a quick Christmas card.  Hi - hope you're enjoying a great weekend - Jean Okimoto here with another old+new design today.

Detailed, delicate diecuts like these create their own sticky situation and adhering them can be challenging.  Here's a solution...

MemoryBoxPinpointSnowflakeCircleFrame-MemoryBoxClassicIceSkates-GlitteredDiecuts-ImpressSparkleGlitter

Attach Scor-Tape to cardstock, then cut it with the narrow outer Pinpoint Snowflake  Circle Frame.  Save the narrow pinpointed frame for another project.  We're using the larger inner circle today.

Cut the snowflake frame and attach it (slightly offset) to the adhesive-covered background.  Cut the Classic Ice Skates from silver glitter cardstock.  Attach the skates to the background.

Here's the cool part....brush ultra-fine iridescent glitter over the diecuts and onto all of the remaining exposed adhesive.  This  process adheres the snowflake frame and the skates and adds a layer of glitter to the adhesive.  The delicate diecuts are attached and there's a layer of sparkly glitter surrounding them.

Stamp the greeting - from the Be Jolly Clear Stamps set - on white cardstock with VersaFine Smokey Gray.  Diecut it with the smallest Rectangle Basics die.

Attach the diecuts to a top-folded 5-¼" square white card - use foam dots for the greeting.  Add pale pink gem stickers.

Ready to save some time by adhering and glittering your delicate design elements in a single quick and easy step?  Try  this with your holiday cards and tags too!

Thanks very much for stopping by - see you next week!

Cheers to Sunburst Stripe Circle Tape Trees and Crystal Snowflakes by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxSunburstStripeCircle-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxCrystalSnowflakes-JeanOkimoto-ImagineCrafts-VersaFineClair-ImpressCardsAndCrafts-WashiTapeCards-WashiTapeChristmasCards

Five bright Sunburst Stripe Circle offcuts create a contemporary holiday scene - and some inspiration for September's Tape Too Challenge.  Crisp white Crystal Snowflakes and a Wrapped Stitch Rectangle balance the brightness and add the finishing touch.

Hi everyone, Jean Okimoto here - let's see what we can do with some very bright Scotch Expressions Tape offcuts.  I love triangles, unexpected color combos and making the most of my Memory Box stash.

MemoryBoxSunburstStripeCircle-ScotchExpressionsTape-MemoryBoxHolidayCards-WashiTapeHolidayCards-JeanOkimoto

Attach Scotch washi tape and colored Magic Tape to a scrap of waterolor paper.  (The green tape looks yellow-er attached to the paper.)   Cut the taped cardstock  crosswise into ⅞" strips.  Cut the strips with the Sunburst Stripe Circle.   The strips are much longer than the die's triangles so you can pick the perfect combination of colors for your "trees."

I made several sets of taped strips so I'd have extras for other projects.

Cut the 4-¾" x 3-½" Wrapped Stitch Rectangle from white cardstock.  Stamp the greeting - from the Penguin Cheer Clear Stamp Set - with Verdant VersaFine Clair.

Cut the smaller Crystal Snowflake from white cardstock, and again from light gray cardstock.  Cut another snowflake center from white and gray cardstock.  Layer the snowflakes - slightly offset - for dimension.

Attach the diecuts to a side-folded white A-2 card.

MemoryBoxSunburstStripeCircle-MemoryBoxCrystalSnowflakes-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles-MemoryBoxPenguinCheerClearStamps-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBox2018HolidayCollection-ScotchExpressionsTape-VersaFineClair

Looking for even more ways to use Sunburst Stripe Circle offcuts?  Party hats, ice cream cones, pennants, the top of witch hats, unicorns, tiny rolled paper beads are just a few ideas to start with.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at another SIMPLY ASIAN class at Impress on September 15th.   We'll start with a simple origami butterfly card, then make more cards with many of our favorite dies from Memory Box, Poppystamps and Birch Press Designs.

Thanks for stopping by...

Snow Much Fun with the Elegant Holly Double Frame by Jean Okimoto

P1060722

Emboss the Elegant Holly Double Frame and add caroling bunnies from the Snow Much Fun Clear Stamps Set to a holiday card.  Detailed Memory Box dies - like the Elegant Holly Double Frame set - create great embossed backgrounds too.  Capture the details and textures of the dies by pressure-embossing them on watercolor paper as a quick alternative to dieutting.

Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a review of some basic cardmaking techniques.  Let's begin with embossing...

P1060752 2

Cut watercolor paper with the 4-¼" Square Basics die.  Emboss it with the larger outer frame from the Elegant Holly Double Frame.    Here's how I layered everything on the platform of my Platinum machine - die with the cutting edge face-up, diecut watercolor paper, rubber embossing mat, purple embossing plate.  Please use the plates, mats and stacking sequence recommended by the manufacturer of your machine.

Attach the embossed frame to a 4-½" x 6-¼" card of textured green cardstock.

Cut watercolor paper (smoother side up) with the 3" Stitched Square Layers die.  Stamp the bunnies from the Snow Much Fun set with Pinecone VersaFine Clair.  Quickly emboss it with detail clear powder.

P1060744

Scribble watercolor pencils onto a scrap of cardstock and use it as a palette to color the stamped image.

Stamp the greeting - also from the Snow Much Fun Set - on the smoother side of watercolor paper with Tulip Red VersaFine Clair. Emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut the cooled greeting with the 1-½" Stitched Square Layers die.

Cut a holly sprig from the frame set from yellow-green cardstock.

Assemble the card - use foam dots for the left edge of the greeting square.  Add green gem stickers.

Embossing watercolor paper - or heavy cardstock - creates subtle backgrounds that won't compete with stamped images.  It's quick and easy too!

Pine Wreath and Tiny Ornament Triplets by Jean Okimoto

P1060682

A deconstructed Pine Wreath quickly becomes a holiday garland with the Tiny Ornament Triplet cut from shiny duct tape.  The theme of our September Tape Too Challenge reminded me about my stash of colored duct tape.  Diecutting duct tape creates bright accent pieces with a glossy, textured finish.  Happy weekend everyone - Jean Okimoto here with another mix of old and new.

Here's how the Tiny Ornament Triplet is meant to be used - to create multi-colored layered designs.

6a00d83454a17469e201bb09dc864e970d-640wi

Today's card uses the cute little ornament offcuts in bright shades of red, dark pink and chartreuse duct tape.  Contractors probably wouldn't pick these colors for duct work and repairs -  but they are so pretty for papercrafts!

P1060681

Attach duct tape to medium- or light-weight cardstock and cut Tiny Ornament Triplets.  I cut each of them from the three colors so I could mix and match them while deciding which pieces to use on my card.  That's easier - and faster - than guessing!

Cut Pine Wreath from green cardstock - cut at least two sets so you can mix and match them to form a garland for your card.

Attach them to a 6-¼" x 3-⅜" white card.  These cards fit into those envelopes we mailed checks in many years ago.

Stamp the greeting - from the Typewriter Holiday Sentiments Clear Stamps Set - on white cardstock with Glamorous VersaFine Clair.  Quickly emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut it with the ¾" x 2" Rectangle Basics die.  Cut an extra rectangle to layer behind it for dimension.

Add dark pink gem stickers.

P1060698

We've used two classic die sets in unintended ways here...getting a little more from our stash of Memory Box dies.  Try adding a second layer of branches in a slightly different shade of green - or using mirror or glitter cardstock for the ornaments.  Or make a wreath!

Big thanks to everyone from Monday's SIMPLY ASIAN class at Impress!  Who knew that so many Memory Box, Poppystamps and Birch Press Designs products would be perfect for our favorite "lightly-layered" Japanese-inpsired cards?  If you love origami - be sure to use the Square Basics dies to cut your paper into perfect squares for crisp edges and sharp folds. Thanks Ann, Jeannie and Becca - for helping everyone find everything we need for our projects.

Enjoy your weekend!

Tape Too Challenge Inspiration with Studio Hexagon Layers and Awesome Jotted Script by Jean Okimoto

P1060640

Bright washi tape-covered Studio Hexagon Layers create a quick card for someone who's simply awesome.  A change of colors would make this a guy-card too.  Hi everyone, Jean Okimoto here with a Tape Too Challenge inspiration card today.

Unlike everyone with bins full of washi tape - my entire washi tape stash barely fills a little 8" square cakepan. That doesn't stop me from designing cards with them - I love their bright colors and convenience.  Mix, match and layer strips of tape over white cardstock.  The pink and orange patterns are Scotch Expressions tape.  The wide pink tape - also used for the greeting - is Scotch Expressions masking tape.

Cut three hexagons from the taped cardstock using the three smallest Studio Hexagon Layers.  Diecutting creates those smooth, crisp edges we love - and presses the tapes firmly onto the cardstock.

P1060624

Attach a strip of pink masking tape to a scrap of white cardstock and diecut the delicate "awesome."  Cut the bold "awesome" background from light gray cardstock.

Stamp "you are simply"  - from the Birch Press Design Best Friend Clear Stamps Set - onto a side-folded white A-2 card with VersaFine Clair Nocturne.   Quickly emboss it with detail clear powder.

Assemble the card.  Add pink gem stickers.

P1060650

Thanks for visiting - hope you're entering our September "Tape Too" challenge.  Details are listed here.

We've added another GREETINGS FROM BIRCH PRESS class on Saturday September 8th - hope you can join us if you weren't able to attend the previous class.  We're making 3 holiday cards and 3 any-occasion cards featuring Birch Press Design dies and stamps, and artpapers from Shizen Design.

Holly Flourish and Resting Birds in a Delicate Pine Frame by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxHollyFlourish-MemoryBoxDelicatePineFrame-MemoryBoxRestingBirds-MemoryBoxTypewriterHolidaySentiments-MemoryBoxBubbleBurst-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxCoChristmasCards-MemoryBoxHolidayDiecuts-JeanOkimoto-VersaFineClair-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Arrange some tiny gold Resting Birds on the Holly Flourish - then add bright red berry dots for a very traditional holiday greeting.  Husband says they're either very tiny birds or a very big holly branch - oh yes, they are!  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a simple Christmas design for you.

P1060519

Cut the large outer frame from the Delicate Pine Frame set from white cardstock and leave both pieces in the die.  Attach ¼" Scor-Tape along the edges.  Remove the tape liners (!) and flip the die over and press it firmly onto a Key Lime Notecard.  Cut Holly Flourish from a slightly darker shade of green.

Cut Resting Birds from gold glittered paper or cardstock.

Bubble Burst is the perfect source for assorted bright red "berries."  I've added a third berry to the bottom center branch.

Stamp the greeting - from the versatile Typewriter Holiday Sentiments Clear Stamp Set with Tulip Red VersaFine Clair.  Quickly emboss it with detail clear powder.  Trim it with the smallest Rectangle Basics die.  It's a tight fit - but you can do it!  Cut another rectangle from green cardstock and layer it for dimension and definition.

Rectangle Basis is a set of 16 dies ranging from 4-¼" x 5-½" all the way down to ½" x 1-¾".  They're proportioned for A-2 cards and are great for greetings, accents and backgrounds with crisp, finished edges.  Eliminate tedious measuring, trimming and re-trimming with Rectangle Basics.

Here's your card!

P1060557

If you're in the Seattle area and have a day off on Monday - join us for another SIMPLY ASIAN class at Impress.  We're making 6 cards - including one with a very cool origami butterfly that's a lot easier than it looks.  Memory Box, Poppystamps and Birch Press Design have so many dies that are perfect for the understated, contemporary Asian style we love.

Thanks for visiting!

Snow Much Fun in the Elegant Snowflake Double Frame by Jean Okimoto

P1060463

The Snowflake Double Frame sets the scene for a friendly snowball fight between the Snow Much Fun bunnies.  Christmas cards are often male-dominated designs of Santas, elves and snowmen. Here are some gals sharing the holiday fun!  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a few techniques to save some holiday prep time too.

P1060474

Save coloring time by stamping the bunnies - from the Snow Much Fun Clear Stamps Set - on light gray cardstock with Nocturne VersaFine.  Quickly emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut the stamped images with the coordinating designs from the Snow Much Fun Dies Set.  Scribble watercolor pencils onto a scrap of watercolor paper.  Use that as a palette to color the ears and scarves.

Stamp and emboss the snowball sections again on white cardstock.  Cut them out and attach them over the gray snowballs.  No one wants gray snowballs!

Here's another timesaver...

P1060471

A layer of a waxed deli or bakery sheet  between the die and the cardstock makes it quick and easy to remove all of the bits and pieces from these beautifully-detailed dies like Elegant Snowflake Double Frame.   The big die on the left shows the layering sequence.  The pieces cling to the waxed sheet and are easily released from the die.  Peel the waxed sheet from the cardstock and pop the diecuts out.  Those two snowflake pieces in the upper right corner are the diecuts from the waxed sheet.

If you're diecutting glossy or metallic cardstock and it's hard to remove the waxed sheet - press a piece of "Magic" tape lightly onto a corner or edge of the waxed sheet to pull it off.

Attach the left bunny behind the frame.  Attach the diecuts to a 5-¼" square white card - use foam dots for the bunny on the right.  Add orange gem stickers.

I love playing with colors - pick your favorite colors for this card.  Or use the team, school or favorite colors of the recipient.  They'll appreciate it!

Thanks for stopping by - see you again with another project this evening!

Create a Snowman with Stitched Bump Borders by Jean Okimoto

Add a big snowman to your holiday cards with Stitched Bump Borders - then add Piccolo Snowflakes and a greeting from the new Typewrite Holiday Sentiments Clear Stamps.  Hi there,  Jean Okimoto here with a fun Christmas design for your holiday stash.

MemoryBoxStitchedBumpBorders-JeanOkimoto-SnowmanCards-MemoryBoxBorderDies

Cut a 4-¼" x 5-¾" rectangle of white cardstock.  Diecut Stitched Bump Borders  (upside-down)  - with the top  ½" from the upper left corner and the bottom  1" from the bottom left corner.

Round the top right and bottom left corners.

Stamp the greeting - from the new Typewrite Holiday Sentiments - with VersaFineClair Tulip Red and quickly emboss it with detail clear powder.

Attach scraps of  heavy white cardstock behind the partial circles to prop them up a bit when the snowman is attached to the card.

The eyes, nose, buttons and twiggy arm from the Build a Snowman Set are perfect for this snowman too!  Cut them from black, orange and dark kraft cardstock - cut two sets of buttons.

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet behind red velvet ribbon or paper and cut the streamer from the Curled Ribbons die.  The paper backing adds dimension and makes it easier to attach the "scarf" to the card.

Cut Piccolo Snowflakes from silver glittered cardstock.

Attach the diecuts to a 6" x 4-½" card of green cardstock.

Try looking beyond the obvious ways of using your Memory Box products.  Use the diecuts upside-down, offset and angled.  I love using my supplies in unintended ways and sharing those ideas with you so you can get the most from your stash too.

MemoryBoxSunburstStripeCircle-MemoryBoxCircleBasics-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxCo-SealCards-SunCards-SealDiecuts

Cut Sunburst Stripe Circle from yellow cardstock.  Trim it with the 2-¼" Rectangle Basics die.

Cut   Sweet Seal from gray cardstock.  Attach a scrap of black cardstock behind his face.

Cut Wave Ribbon Collage - we'll just use the offcuts here today.  Attach the offcuts - staggered and in wonky order -  to an A-2 card of textured white cardstock.  The top two offcuts are from the top and bottom of the die.  Their straight edges are partially concealed by the seal.

Stamp the greeting - from the Wirework Hearts Clear Stamp Set - on smooth white cardstock - with Summertime VersaFineClair.  Love that great orange!  Trim the greeting with the smallest Rectangle Basics die.  Attach it with foam dots.
