Stitched Rain Boots, Everglade Collage and Proper Umbrella are ready to welcome spring - even if it is Valentine's Day!   Hello and Happy Valentine's Day  - Jean Okimoto here with a quick spring design for you today.

MemoryBoxEvergladeCollage-MemoryBoxStitchedRainBoots-MemoryBoxOpenStudioSpringLilacsClearStampSet-MemoryBoxProperUmbrella-VersaFineCLAIR-JeanOkimoto

Cut an unfolded Parsley Notecard with the Everglade Collage.  Stamp the greeting - from the Spring Lilacs Clear Stamp Set - with the new Charming Pink VersaFine CLAIR .  It's a clear, bright fuchsia-pink that'll brighten a dark winter day.

Cut Proper Umbrella from a colorful floral print.  I've used #1125 by Shizen Design, available at Impress,  and #61096 at Birch Press Design.    Cut the umbrella again from a scrap of cardboard and from gold metallic cardstock. Attach the gold umbrella behind the floral portion of the umbrella- every so slightly offset along the top edge  to outline it against the Parsley Notecard background.    Attach the cardboard umbrella behind them for more definition.

Attach a layer of laminate over turquoise cardstock and diecut Stitched Rain Boots.  The laminate adds a glossy, waterproof look - like real rainboots!  Diecut another pair of rain boots from scrap cardstock and layer them for added dimension.

Add pink gem stickers.

Wirework Hearts Clear Stamp Set, Have a Heart, Heart Rays and Wrapped Stitch Rectangles by Jean Okimoto

Have a Heart - 5, to be exact - is a great matchup for the Wirework Hearts Clear Stamp Set.  It's a practical, versatile die set you can use throughout the year.  Hi - Jean Okimoto here again, with the details behind my February Challenge inspiration card.

MemoryBoxHaveAHeart-MemoryBoxHeartRays-MemoryBoxWireworkHearts-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxValentines-MemoryBoxDiecutCards-DiecutValentines-HeartCards

I found some pretty pieces of watercolored, shimmery spritzed papers in my stash and diecut them with the Wrapped Stitch Rectangles and Have a Heart sets to create contrasting backgrounds.

Stamp the large Wirework Hearts design onto another piece of watercolored paper with Onyx Black VersaFine and emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut it with 1.5" x 1.7" heart.

Attach the watercolored diecut rectangle to a top-folded A2 card of white textured cardstock.  Cut both the rectangle and card front with a portion of the Heart Rays die.  Save the largest Heart Rays watercolored heart.

Attach the saved heart in the opening you'll discover (oops!) on the backside of the cardfront.  This sounds silly and complicated, but it'll be a sweet surprise when the recipient finds that watercolored heart inside the card. Really.

Attach the hearts to the card - use foam dots to add a bit of lift on the right side of the background heart.  Add pink gem stickers.

Have a Heart, Wirework Hearts Clear Stamp Set and Rectangle Basics by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxHaveAHeart-MemoryBoxOpenStudioWireworkHeartsClearStampSet-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-BirchPressDesignSugarTapes-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxValentines-DiecutValentines-DiecutHeartCards-ImpressCardsAndCrafts-ImagineCrafts\

The Wirework Hearts Clear Stamp Set and the Have a Heart die set are more than just Valentine designs.  They're perfect throughout the year and will quickly become go-to products for many occasions.  Use them for friendship cards, thank-yous, showers, weddings, baby cards and anniversaries too.

Hello and Happy Friday - Jean Okimoto here, with another Hearts Challenge inspiration card today.  February arrived so quickly - here's another way to use our heart-themed designs for Valentine and year-round greetings.

MemoryBoxHaveAHeart-MemoryBoxWireworkHeartsClearStampSet-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-JeanOkimoto-BirchPressDesignSugarTapes-MemoryBoxValentines-DiecutValentines-HeartCards

Stamp the large Wirework Hearts image  on pale pink cardstock with Smokey Gray VersaFine and emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut it with the 2.8" x 3" Have a Heart die.  Cut a gray heart with the same die - it'll add dimension to the stamped heart.

Stamp and emboss the greeting on flamingo cardstock.  Trim it with the smallest Rectangle Basics die.

Cut flamingo cardstock with the 3.4"x3.7" Have a Heart die.

Attach  a 1" x 4-⅞" strip of pale pink cardstock to a top-folded 5-½" square gray card.  Attach strips of tape from the Sugar tape set - available at Birch Press Design.

Attach the diecuts to the card - use foam dots for the greeting.

MemoryBoxHaveAHeart-MemoryBoxWireworkHeartsClearStamps-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-BirchPressDesignSugarTapes-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxValentines-MemoryBoxCards-DiecutValentines-HeartCards

Have a few extra minutes?  Make a bunch of these cards in your favorite colors and have them ready when you need a special card.  Add a greeting later.

Thanks for visiting - have a great weekend!

Wrapped Stitch Hearts, Happy Penguin and Rectangle Basics by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxHappyPenguin-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchHearts-MemoryBoxSmileClearStampSet-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxCoCards-MemoryBoxCoValentines-DiecutValentineCards-PenguinCards-ImpressCardsAndCrafts-ShizenDesign-ImagineCrafts

A background of Wrapped Stitch Hearts creates a twirly setting for the Happy Penguin on a simple card today.  Add a brightly bold greeting from the Smile Clear Stamp Set - and a swirly circle print background - and it's a quick card for your favorite guy.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here, the big day is just two weeks away - quick and easy is the way to go!
MemoryBoxHappyPenguin-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchHearts-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxCoValentines-PenguinCards-DiecutValentineCards

Layer a set of red Wrapped Stitch Hearts onto a 2-¼" x 3-½"  Rectangle Basics block of silver and black printed paper.

Cut Happy Penguin from watercolor paper and again from black cardstock.  Color two eye dots on a scrap of orange cardstock with a black marker and attach it behind the white penguin.  Attach the additional black penguin behind the white, slightly lower for dimension.

Attach black duct tape to a scrap of cardstock and diecut a glossy contrasting overlay for the head and flippers.

Stamp the greeting -  from the Smile Clear Stamp Set  - on turquoise cardstock with Onyx Black VersaFine and dry the ink.  Trim it with the ¾" x 2" Rectangle Basics die.

Attach everything to a white  A6 (4-⅝" x 6-¼") card.  Cut a bunch of red glittered hearts with the Dibble Heart Border die.  Attach one of the little hearts to the penguin.  Add black sequins.

MemoryBoxHappyPenguin-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchHearts-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxSmileClearStampSet-MemoryBoxDibbleHeartBorder-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxCoValentines

Need a more gal-ish design?  Just diecut some fuchsia, pink or peach Wrapped Stitch Hearts and add a garden print instead.  Finish it off with pastel or glittery gem stickers.

Special thanks to everyone who stopped by to make a Heart Gift Box at my Impress make and take last Saturday!  Big thanks to everyone who joined us for the Love Is Sweet Valentine cards class too - and to Ann, Erin and Laura for finding those great dies and papers for all of our projects.  See you again at the CAKES, CANDLES + BIRTHDAY WISHES class on February 10!

Thanks for visiting - see you again on Thursday too...

Stitched Circle Landscape, Happy Penguin and Wrapped Stitch Circle Frames by Jean Okimoto

There's a lot to love about the Happy Penguin, especially on a Valentine card!  The floating hearts of the Stitched Circle Landscape create a cool background with Lawn Fawn's Perfectly Plaid Spring print.  Thanks for the great papers Lawn Fawn!

Hi, Jean Okimoto here, with a quick Valentine idea for you.  It's just 2-½ weeks away - let's get started!

MemoryBoxHappyPenguin-MemoryBoxStitchedCircleHeartscape-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchCircleFrames-MemoryBoxDibbleHeartsBorder-MemoryBoxOpenStudioSoManyThingsToLoveClearStamps-LawnFawnPerfectlyPlaidSpring-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxCoCards

Stitched Circle Heartscape can be used in so many ways - and it's great combined with the new Wrapped Stitch Circle Frames too.  I've used just the Heartscape's top inner portion with the Wrapped Stitch Circle Frame and inner circle.

P1030095

Cut the 3.6" Circle Frame from bright pink cardstock.  Attach the frame to a top-folded 5.5" square card.  Attach the inner circle - slightly offset and overlapping the right edge of the frame.

Cut the heart background section of Stitched Circle Landscape from the Perfectly Plaid Spring paper.  Attach it to the pink circle

Cut  Happy Penguin twice - from watercolor paper and black cardstock.  Use a marker to color two black "eye dots" on a scrap of orange cardstock.  Attach it behind the penguin.  Layer the additional black penguin behind the white penguin to add dimension.

Cut the head and flippers section from black cardstock.  Or - as I did, from a piece of shiny black duct tape attached to a scrap of cardstock.  That gives him a glossy look - like he just emerged from a quick winter swim.

Stamp the greeting - from the So Many Things to Love Clear Stamp Set - with Lightning Black Brilliance.

Cut Dibble Hearts Border from pink glittered cardstock.  Attach small hearts to the penguin and the background.  Accent the greeting with the bigger heart.

Add orange gem stickers.

Rolling Wave Collage, Sweet Seal and Heart Rays by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxRollingWaveCollage-MemoryBoxSweetSeal-MemoryBoxHeartRays-MemoryBoxOpenStudioWireworkHeartsClearStampSet-MemoryBoxNotecards-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxCoCards-DiecutValentines-SealCards-ImpressCardsAndCrafts-ImagineCrafts

Combine the new Rolling Wave Collage and Sweet Seal for a simple Valentine design.  Add a trio of glittery hearts with the Heart Rays die.  Hello - Jean Okimoto here today - with a quick project for Valentines of any age.

MemoryBoxSweetSeal-MemoryBoxRollingWaveCollage-MemoryBoxHeartRays-MemoryBoxOpenStudioWireworkHearts-MemoryBoxNotecards-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxCraftDies

Cut a Pool Notecard with the Rolling Wave Collage.  Stamp the greeting from the Wirework Hearts Clear Stamp Set  with Onyx Black VersaFine.  Memory Box Notecards - with their crisp white interiors - create the ideal background contrast our the collage dies.  Try re-folding the card with the white side out for an entirely different look.

Cut Sweet Seal twice from gray cardstock.  Attach a scrap of black cardstock behind the cutouts for his face.  Attach the seal over the waves.  Attach the second seal behind the waves to create a nice finished look on the interior of the card.

Diecut Heart Rays from red glittered cardstock.  Attach the large heart on the card front.  Attach two smaller hearts inside the card.  You'll have just enough space to write or stamp a sweet message inside the card.  No pressure to write a long loveletter!

Memory Box Collage Dies are great when you want a quick card with a detailed look.  Less is definitely more here - less time, more impact.

Big thanks to everyone who took last weekend's SO MANY HEARTS class at Impress!   Hope you liked the techniques, cards and candy box.  Thanks too - Ann, Erin and Laura - for helping everyone fill shopping baskets with the perfect dies, papers and inks for their Valentine projects.

MemoryBoxJanuary2018Release-MemoryBoxSweetSeal-MemoryBoxHeartRays-MemoryBoxWireworksHeartClearStampSet-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxValentines-DiecutValentines-SealCards

Cut a 4-¼" x 5-½" Wrapped Stitch Rectangle from white cardstock.  Cut it with Heart Rays.

Cut Sweet Seal from speckled gray cardstock or a scrap of cardboard.  Attach a scrap of black cardstock behind the eye and nose cutouts.  Cut another seal from black cardstock and layer it for dimension and a bit of a shadow.  Lightly sponge the edges with Lightning Black Brilliance.

Stamp the greeting on white cardstock with Lightning Black.  Trim it with the 1" x 2-¼" Rectangle Basics die.

Cut the large heart from Heart Rays (hidden behind the seal in the photos) from bubblegum pink cardstock.  Stamp it - at an angle to match Heart Rays -  with the "day" portion of the greeting.

Attach the diecuts to an A-6 (6-¼" x 4-⅝") bubblegum pink card - use foam dots to attach the greeting.  Add gold gem stickers

Snow Bunny Becomes a Friendly Puppy On Stitched Curves by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxSnowBunnyDeepEdgeDie-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxStitchedCurves-MemoryBoxSentimentailIrisClearStamps-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxDeepEdgeDies-DogCards-DiecutDogCards-FriendCards-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

The Deep Edge Snow Bunny die set creates a sweet bunny and - with a bit of creativity - a friendly little puppy too!  Hi everyone - Jean Okimoto here, on the last weekend of a very busy year.  I love using Memory Box dies in unique ways - and this may be an extreme makeover - but I think he looks quite spiffy.  Hope you agree!

MemoryBoxSnowBunnyDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxStitchedCurves-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxOpenStudioSentimentalIrisClearStamps-JeanOkimoto-DiecutDogCards

Cut the head and midsection from kraft cardstock.  Cut three paws from dark kraft cardstock - one will be his mouth.

Cut his arms from dark kraft cardstock - they'll be his back paws.  Hind paws?

Cut two midsections from printed paper and fold them to form floppy ears.  I've used this great print from Shizen Designs - Impress can order it for you.  It's item #HP1172.  Love how the lines converge and curve to add dimension.

Cut the body and the angled scarf section from printed paper.  The scarf section will be a tail.

Cut the straight scarf section from red felt attached to adhesive label paper for stability.  That's his collar!

Cut eyes and a nose from black cardstock.  Cut the nose from pink cardstock for a tongue.

Assemble the bunny-turned-into-a-puppy.  Use foam dots for the ears and head

Cut two layers of Stitched Curves from textured natural cardstock.  Glue them together, then trim them with the long edge of the 4" x 5-¼" Rectangle Basics die.  Borders a bit shorter than the card create neat edges that don't look bulky.

Stamp the greeting - from the Sentimental Iris Clear Stamps Set - on a 5-½" square card of textured natural cardstock with Lightning Black Brilliance.  Dry the ink and attach the pup.  Add a red glittered heart sticker and gold gem stickers.

Square and thick cards require extra postage - but I think this little guy and his kind message will brighten someone's day.

Classic Ice Skates, Dancing Snowflake Oval and Delicate Stitched Snowflakes by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxClassicIceSkates-MemoryBoxDancingSnowflakeOval-MemoryBoxStitchedOvalLayers-MemoryBoxDelicateStitchedSnowflakes-MemoryBoxOpenStudioBlessedToKnowYouClearStamps-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxSnowflakeDies-MemoryBoxDiecutCards-SnowflakeCards-IceSkatesCards-ImpressCardsAndCrafts-BrillianceInkpads

Rose Gold, Classic Ice Skates and glitter...a simple combination for a frosty Christmas design.  It's sweet, sparkly and shimmery - like icing on a special winter dessert.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here, sharing a card in my favorite new pastels - hope you like them too!

MemoryBoxClassicIceSkates-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxDancingSnowflakeOval-MemoryBoxDelicateStitchedSnowflakes-JeanOkimoto

Cut Dancing Snowflake Oval from white cardstock and leave it in the die.  Replace the cutting plate with the rubber embossing mat and plates required for dry embossing on your diecut machine.  Dry-emboss the diecut to add extra dimension to the delicate design.

Cut pale gray and pale peach cardstock with the second-largest Stitched Snowflake Oval.

Cut three snowflakes from iridescent rose gold cardstock with the Delicate Stitched Snowflake dies.

MemoryBoxClassicIceSkates-JeanOkimoto-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Classic Ice Skates is a beautiful - and delicate - design.  I cut 26 of them for class kits last weekend using this simple technique.  Place a layer of mid-weight plastic - like a piece from an Impress shopping bag - between the die and the cardstock before running it through the machine.  The smooth plastic helps release the diecut - just peel the plastic from it - then carefully wiggle and pull the negative sections away from the diecut instead of pulling on the diecut.

It's also great being able to tape the die to the plastic and not ruin any of the surrounding glitter cardstock when you remove it.

Stamp the greeting - from the Open Studio Blessed to Know You Clear Stamp Set - on pale gray cardstock with Starlite Black Brilliance.  It's a shimmery blend of Starlight Silver and Graphite Black Inks.  Dry the ink, then diecut the greeting with a die from the Rectangle Basics set.

Attach the diecuts to a top-folded 5-½" square card of pale peach cardstock - use foam dots for the skates.

MemoryBoxClassicIceSkates-MemoryBoxDancingSnowflakeOval-MemoryBoxStitchedOvalLayers-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxDelicateStitchedSnowflakes-JeanOkimoto-SnowflakeCards-IceSkatesCards

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll be sharing more ideas on Saturday - hope to see you then!  (Also hope you won't get tired of seeing me so often this week.)

Birthday Wishes with Feathered Friends, Wrapped Circles and Swooping Branches and Leaves by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxFeatheredFriends-MemoryBoxSwoopingBranchesAndLeaves-MemoryBoxWrappedCircles-MemoryBoxOpenStudioGardenSketchesDies-MemoryBoxOpenStudioGardenSketchesClearStamps-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxBirthdayCards-DiecutBirthdayCards-ShizenDesign-ImpressCardsAndCrafts-FeltDiecuts

Send birthday wishes to someone a year older - but wiser - with the happy owl from the new Deep Edge Feathered Friends and Deep Edge Swooping Branches and Leaves.  This big, bright owl is framed by the new Wrapped Circles diecuts.  So many dies, so many ways to use them!

Hi, Jean Okimoto here, with another matchup of innovative Memory Box dies and beautiful printed and embossed papers from Shizen Design.  Deep Edge dies are specially-designed for heavier, thicker materials and multiple layers of diecutting.  They're great for quilters, fabric artists and teachers who need to cut duplicates for their students.  The heavy artpapers are made from cotton fabric scraps from the t-shirt industry - but the dies cut right through with clean smooth edges, without leftover bits of threads and fibers.

MemoryBoxFeatheredFriends-MemoryBoxSwoopingBranchesAndLeaves-MemoryBoxWrappedCircles-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxDeepEdgeDies

Cut two Wrapped Circles from white cardstock.

Cut two Swooping Branches from cardboard and layer them for dimension.

Attach adhesive label paper or sticker sheets to black, peach, light orange and dark orange felt.  Diecut the owl's face, eyes, beak and rosy cheeks.  (I borrowed the smaller rosy cheeks die from the birds.)   The paper backing stabilizes the felt and keeps adhesives from soaking through.  Assemble that sweet face - it'll make anyone smile, even on their birthday!

Cut the wing from dark orange felt and black cardstock - it's easy to cut both layers with the Deep Edge Dies.

Cut the rest of the owl from the floral print and black cardstock - again, both layers at once.

Attach the black diecuts  - slightly offset for a shadow effect - behind the wing and owl.

Cut the leaves from embossed paper.

Stamp the greeting - from the Open Studio Garden Sketches Clear Stamp Set - on turquoise cardstock with Onyx Black VersaFine.  Dry the ink, then diecut the strip with the coordinating Garden Sketches die.

Attach the diecuts to a white A-6 (4-5/8" x 6-1/4") card - use foamdots for the center and top of the owl.  Add gold gem stickers.  The card's thickness will probably require extra postage - but it celebrates a special day!

Big thanks to everyone from Sunday's Asian Holiday Greetings class!  It was great to meet so many new students - and Memory Box fans - and to see my friends again.  Special thanks to Ann and Becca - for keeping us well-stocked with artpapers, washi tape and Memory Box and Poppystamps dies!

Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating on Thursday!  If you're in the Seattle area - save Saturday the 25th  for two holiday classes at Impress.  It's MERRY AND QUICK at 10:30 - 7 quick and easy Christmas cards that don't look quick and easy.

The GIFT TAG PORTFOLIO class starts at 1:30.  We're making a fold-out portfolio and filling it with 8 colorful tags.  It's a great little gift - and it can be mailed in an A-6 envelope too.   As a bonus, I've added a candy card to the class - perfect for  delivering a holiday treat to the special people on your list. Of course we'll have to sample a bit of that chocolate too!

Thanks for stopping by - see you again on Friday!
