Make a Snow Bunny Panda - with Bamboo Poles and Little Dragonflies by Jean Okimoto

Bamboo Poles, Little Dragonflies - and a Snow Bunny transformed into a panda?  Why not?  Hi, happy weekend, Jean Okimoto here with another outside-the-box idea for you today.

The Snow Bunny Deep Edge Die set creates more than bunnies...remember our puppy?

MemoryBoxSnowBunnyDeepEdgeDies-JeanOkimoto-DiecutCards-PuppyCards-PuppyDiecuts

That required a bit of imagination - but the pieces were repurposed into a friendly little pup.  Today's panda was more challenging (those eyes!) - the Clutch of Eggs die and a screw punch were perfect for that sweet, droopy expression.

MemoryBoxBambooPoles-MemoryBoxSnowBunnyDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxClutchOfEggs-MemoryBoxLittleDragonflies-MemoryBoxCircleBasics-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles-JeanOkimoto-FeltDiecuts-DiecutCards-PandaCards-FeltDiecuts

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to white felt.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and keeps adhesives from saturating it.  Cut the face, muzzle, midsection and two noses (for the paws) from the felt.

Cut two 1" circles of black cardstock with the Circle Basics die for the ears.  Cut the body section, nose and paws from black cardstock.

Cut two big eggs from the Clutch of Eggs set from black cardstock.  Punch eye circles with a screw punch.

Assemble the panda.  Smile.  Trim it to about 3-⅜" tall.

Cut Bamboo Poles from green cardstock.  Cut the 2" x 3-¼" Wrapped Stitch Rectangle from yellow-green cardstock.  Cut two Little Dragonflies from Shizen Design gold glitter paper.

Attach the diecuts to a 5-½" square card of textured green cardstock.

Hope you enjoyed creating a panda - and finding more ways to use your Memory Box dies!  Pandas are my second-favorite animal, after dogs.  We have two cocker spaniels - but no pandas.

Enjoy the long weekend if you have a holiday on Presidents Day.  If you're in the Seattle area and need a few birthday card ideas -  join us for another CAKES, CANDLES AND BIRTHDAY WISHES class at Impress on February 19th.  Six colorful cards that may seem complicated - but are super-easy and quick.

Thanks for stopping by...

Feathered Friends and Swooping Branches and Leaves by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxFeatheredFriendsDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxSwoopingBranchesAndLeavesDeepEdgeDies-BirchPressDesigns-JeanOkimoto-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Create a Valentine Tree with the Swooping Branches Deep Edge dies - then add a smiling owl from the Feathered Friends Deep Edge dies.  It's all about getting the most from your collection of Memory Box dies.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here, with another colorful Valentine design to brighten your winter day.

MemoryBoxFeatheredFriendsDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxSwoopingBranchesAndLeavesDeepEdgeDies-BirchPressDesign-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxCoValentines-DiecutValentines-MemoryBoxDeepEdgeDies

Cut the the branch and leaves from dark kraft and red cardstock and construct a simple tree.

Cut the Feathered Friends owl from screen printed paper - I've used a colorful striped pattern from Shizen Design.  Impress can order it for you - it's #HP1156.  Cut another owl from dark gray cardstock and attach it - slightly offset - behind the striped owl for dimension and a sliver of a shadow.

Cut the face from natural cardstock.  Attach adhesive label paper or sticker sheets to pale peach and red felt and diecut the rosy cheeks and wing.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and keeps adhesives from soaking thru.

Color a section of orange cardstock with a black marker for the eyes.  Cut the eyes and orange beak.

Attach the diecuts to a 5-½" square card of recycled natural cardstock.

MemoryBoxFeatheredFriendsDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxSwoopingBranchesAndLeavesDeepEdgeDies-BirchPressDesign-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxCoValentines-DiecutValentines-BirdValentines-ShizenDesign

Add some pretty accents from Birch Press Design -  pale peach sequins from the Grandma's Roses assortment and a bit of washi tape from the Sugar Tape set.  Birch Press Design is an upscale online shop featuring craft supplies, cards, kitchen and home products.  It's owned by Memory Box owners Dave and Monica Brethauer.

Hope the deep edge dies have earned a place in your collection - and that we've inspired you to mix and match prints, papers and fabrics on unique cards for any occasion.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Impress Valentine Open House on Saturday January 27th.  I'll be doing a Memory Box Heart Candy Box make and take from 10-11:30.  We've added another LOVE IS SWEET class that day too - from 12-1:45.

Thanks for visiting - see you on Saturday!

Snow Bunny, Sentimental Happy Valentine’s Day and Dibble Heart Border by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxSentimentalHappyValentine'sDay-MemoryBoxDibbleHeartBorder-MemoryBoxSnowBunnyDeepEdgeDies-JeanOkimotoForMemoryBox-MemoryBoxValentines-DiecutValentines-BunnyCards-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Snow Bunny - from the Deep Edge Dies Collection - gets ready for February 14th with the new Sentimental Valentine's Day greeting and some hearts from the new Dibble Heart Border.  Together they create a sweet greeting for a special child or grandchild - or anyone who likes to smile.

Hi, Jean Okimoto here, with another design featuring Valentine dies from our latest release.  Here's the same bunny that appeared as a puppy a few weeks ago - and he'll definitely be back for Easter!

MemoryBoxSentimentalHappyValentine'sDay-MemoryBoxDibbleHeartBorder-MemoryBoxSnowBunnyDeepEdgeDies-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxValentines-BunnyCards-DiecutValentines

Diecut Snow Bunny from natural cardstock.  Cut the accent pieces from printed paper, felt (rosy cheeks and tail) and cardstock (eyes and nose).  Add a sparkly red glittered cardstock heart cut with the Dibble Heart Border.  Assemble and trim the bunny so it fits on a 5-½" square card of kraft cardstock.

Attach Scor-tape behind red cardstock and cut Sentimental Happy Valentine's Day - save the apostrophe for "valentine's."  There's also a tiny dot over the "i" - but I used a glittered dot from the Dibble Dot Border for extra sparkle.  OK - confessing -it's because I lost the greeting's original dot somewhere between my Platinum machine and the card.

Gently flex the words into wonky curves and attach them to the card.  Add tiny glittered hearts from the Dibble Dot Border.

Square cards take extra postage - but this bunny is sure to make someone smile!

Big thanks to everyone from last weekend's SO MANY HEARTS class at Impress!  Hope you liked the cards and candy tote - and were inspired to try color and paper combinations of your own too.  Extra thanks to Ann, Erin and Laura for finding all of the supplies we needed and filling those shopping baskets!

If you're in the Seattle area, join us for the NEW FROM MEMORY BOX class on January 20th.  Create 6 cards featuring the latest release - and some classic favorites from my stash.  You know how much I  love combining products and finding new ways to use "old" dies.  I think you'll love the pretty papers, glittery accents and designs I've selected to take advantage of all of the great products Dave's designed for us.

We've added a second LOVE IS SWEET class.  It's on the last weekend in January - details are coming soon.  Hope you can join us then if you missed the first class a few weeks ago.  We're making 6 cards, including a candy card.  Lots of glitter, pretty papers and techniques!

Thanks for stopping by - and for all of your sweet and thoughtful comments during last week's Blog Blitz.  See you again next week!

New Distressed Heart Collage, Dibble Heart Border and Have a Heart by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxDistressedHeartCollage-MemoryBoxDibbleHeartBorder-MemoryBoxHaveAHeartSet-MemoryBoxFeatheredFriendsDeepEdgeDies-JeanOkimoto-DiecutValentines-BirdValentines-CollageValentines-MemoryBoxDeepEdgeDies-ImpressCardsAndCrafts-ShizenDesigns

The new Distressed Heart Collage, Dibble Heart Border and Have a Heart create a bold background for the happy owl from the Feathered Friends Deep Edge Dies.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here, with a Spring 2018 Release preview Valentine card for you today.

The Distressed Heart Collage set of four cool/vintage/bold/edgy designs  creates great backgrounds - and little heart cutouts in a array of versatile sizes.  They make sweet DIY accents from glittered cardstock, mirror cardstock, felt and vellum.  This set will definitely earn a place in your stash.

Cut the Distressed Heart Collage from black cardstock.  It's not torn along the edges - that's what it's supposed to look like - I promise!  Cut gold glittered cardstock with the same Distressed Heart Collage die.  Save the outlines for another project - it's too pretty to toss.  Use three - or as many as you wish - of the sparkly heart cutouts here.

Cut the red cardstock heart with a Have a Heart die.

Cut the Feathered Friends owl from printed paper - like this cool screenprint from Shizen Design.  Cut another owl from black cardstock to layer for dimension and bit of a shadow effect along the right and bottom edges.

Cut the face from textured natural cardstock. Cut the wing from gold glittered cardstock.

Here's an improvement of technique I shared earlier.  Stick two layers of orange cardstock together with doublestick tape to add dimension to the little pieces. The deep edge dies are great for cutting through multiple layers.  Scribble a portion of it with a black Sharpie.  Position the eyes+beak die on the cardstock so it cuts the black section just for the eyes - and the orange section for the beak.  That's a lot easier than cutting the pieces from black and orange cardstock.  It's also beats trying to color the tiny eye circles with a black marker (like I did earlier).   Live and learn!

Cut red glittered cardstock with Dibble Heart Border for that little heart on the owl.

Attach the diecuts to an A-6 card (4-⅝" x 6-¼") of kraft cardstock.  No need to add sequins or gems - it's already blinged!

New Heart Rays and Have a Heart with the Feathered Friends Deep Edge Dies by Jean Okimoto

P1020645

Happy New Year!  Here's a preview of our latest release...introducing the new Heart Rays and Have a Heart dies.  The Spring 2018 Release of  dies and clear stamp sets starts shipping this week and the Design Team is busy creating Valentine projects to share with you.

Hello - Jean Okimoto here - let's start with two classic heart designs that will never go out of style.  Here they are - with a happy bird from the Feathered Friends Deep Edge dies.

P1020656

Cut the heart from natural and red cardstock.  Cut the natural heart again with a portion of the Heart Rays die.  Layer them - slightly offset - and attach them to a side-folded A-2 card of textured natural cardstock.

Cut the Feathered Friends bird from sage cardstock and printed paper.  Attach the printed portion to an extra layer of sage cardstock for more dimension.

Cut the wing from gold glittered cardstock.

The beak, eye and rosy cheek are on one die.  Cut them from watercolor paper.  Color them with markers.

Assemble the bird and attach it to the card - angle it so it looks like he's whistling a lovesong.  (I hope!)  Use foam dots on the tail section.

Add gold gem stickers.

P1020653

The 5-piece Have a Heart set ranges from 4.5" to 1.7" tall - perfect for all of your projects.  You'll love them for heart-shaped cards and tags for weddings, anniversaries, birthday and baby cards throughout the year.

The Heart Rays die is designed to cut cool little stitches across the width of an A-2 card - and seven hearts that are just waiting to be glittered or layered over mirror cardstock, velvet paper or vellum.

They're just two of many versatile new designs for Valentine's Day, Spring, birthdays and any occasion that calls for a unique card that you've designed to make it an extra-special event.

Thanks for visiting - join us for Laura's great project tomorrow!

Snow Bunny Becomes a Friendly Puppy On Stitched Curves by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxSnowBunnyDeepEdgeDie-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxStitchedCurves-MemoryBoxSentimentailIrisClearStamps-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxDeepEdgeDies-DogCards-DiecutDogCards-FriendCards-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

The Deep Edge Snow Bunny die set creates a sweet bunny and - with a bit of creativity - a friendly little puppy too!  Hi everyone - Jean Okimoto here, on the last weekend of a very busy year.  I love using Memory Box dies in unique ways - and this may be an extreme makeover - but I think he looks quite spiffy.  Hope you agree!

MemoryBoxSnowBunnyDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxStitchedCurves-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxOpenStudioSentimentalIrisClearStamps-JeanOkimoto-DiecutDogCards

Cut the head and midsection from kraft cardstock.  Cut three paws from dark kraft cardstock - one will be his mouth.

Cut his arms from dark kraft cardstock - they'll be his back paws.  Hind paws?

Cut two midsections from printed paper and fold them to form floppy ears.  I've used this great print from Shizen Designs - Impress can order it for you.  It's item #HP1172.  Love how the lines converge and curve to add dimension.

Cut the body and the angled scarf section from printed paper.  The scarf section will be a tail.

Cut the straight scarf section from red felt attached to adhesive label paper for stability.  That's his collar!

Cut eyes and a nose from black cardstock.  Cut the nose from pink cardstock for a tongue.

Assemble the bunny-turned-into-a-puppy.  Use foam dots for the ears and head

Cut two layers of Stitched Curves from textured natural cardstock.  Glue them together, then trim them with the long edge of the 4" x 5-¼" Rectangle Basics die.  Borders a bit shorter than the card create neat edges that don't look bulky.

Stamp the greeting - from the Sentimental Iris Clear Stamps Set - on a 5-½" square card of textured natural cardstock with Lightning Black Brilliance.  Dry the ink and attach the pup.  Add a red glittered heart sticker and gold gem stickers.

Square and thick cards require extra postage - but I think this little guy and his kind message will brighten someone's day.

Build a Snowman
by Donna Sledzik

Good morning everyone!

We're getting close to Christmas!  I love making cards this time of year with the  wonderful dies and stamps from Memory Box which are so inspiring.  For today's card I couldn't resist using the cute "Build a Snowman" die set.

IMG_3628

To make this card I used texture paste and the Snowflake stencil to create the background of the card front.  Once the texture paste dried, I glued the card front to a red cardstock mat and glued that to a white card base.

I die cut all the card elements from watercolor paper and used distress inks to color them. For the fur on the snowman's hat and the snow in the background I used a Snow Writer, which puffs up once it is heated with a heat tool. I assembled the snowman and then adhered him to the snowglobe.  Once the snowglobe was assembled I added the snow to the background.

IMG_3615

Before I glued the snowglobe to the card front, I tied twine around it and embellished it with a bow and bell.

To finish the card I glued a snowflake to the top right of the snowglobe.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Batavia Snowflake Channel, Feathered Friends Deep Edge Dies and Starlight Snowflake Collage by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxBataviaSnowflakeChannel-MemoryBoxFeatheredFriendsDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxStarlightSnowflakeCollage-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxChristmasCards-SnowflakeCards-BirdCards

Add a diecut snowflake wing to one of the Feathered Friends for a holiday design to match the delicate Batavia Snowflake Channel.  The matchup of soft peach, crisp white and gray creates a fresh look for Christmas - and a few gem stickers add a bit of bling.

Hi, Jean  Okimoto here, sharing another Feathered Friends Deep Edge die design.  The birds and owl will be great throughout the year - in fabric, felt, wood veneer, silkscreened prints...even recycled La Croix cans!

MemoryBoxBataviaSnowflakeChannel-MemoryBoxFeatheredFriendsDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxStarlightSnowflakeCollage-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Cut the bird from pale peach cardstock and gray printed paper.  Cut the eyes and beak from orange cardstock. Color the eye circle with a black Sharpie.

Cut Starlight Snowflake Collage from white cardstock, then cut it with the Feathered Friends wing die.

Assemble the bird - offset the gray layer  for dimension, and to add a pretty peach outline along one side.

Cut Batavia Snowflake Channel from white cardstock.  Trim it with the 4-¼" x 5-½" Rectangle Basics Die.  Attach it to a top-folded gray A-2 card with a tape runner or double-stick tape.  Here's an optional step -  I like to protect the card with printer paper and run the open card through my Spellbinders Platinum machine to seal the edges where the card meets the Batavia Snowflake panel.  This creates nice, neat edges and seals any gaps.  Details, details!

Attach the bird with foamdots.  Add silver and dark peach gem stickers.  Color clear gem stickers with a marker if you don't have matching gem stickers.

MemoryBoxBataviaSnowflakeChannel-MemoryBoxFeatheredFriendsDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxRectangleBasics-MemoryBoxStarlightSnowflakeCollage-JeanOkimoto-SnowflakeCards-BirdCards

Imagine the same basic design with a column of hearts in February - or a leafy border in the spring.  Use a floral border in the summer and autumn leaves in the fall.  These birds will be busy!

Big thanks to everyone from last week's ASIAN INSPIRATION class at Impress!   Who would have guessed that so many Memory Box and Poppystamps designs could be used to diecut those beautiful silkscreened papers and Asian icons.  Thanks too - Ann, Erin and Lauren - for gathering those dies and papers for everyone.

If you're in the Seattle area, join us for my last class of 2017 - WINTER BLISS - on December 16th.  Make 6 un-holiday cards  - including a low-profile (OK...flat) shaker card using Memory Box products to create custom-sized shaker packets for glitter and diecut bits and pieces.  We're using the Feathered Friends dies too - Impress just received another shipment of them.

Thanks for visiting - see you again next week!

Feathered Friends Deep Edge Dies, Snowflake Ring and Circle Basics by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxFeatheredFriendsDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxSnowflakeRing-MemoryBoxOpenStudioMerryChristmasSentimentsClearStamps-MemoryBoxCircleBasics-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxChristmasDesigns-BirdCards-SnowflakeCards-ShizenDesigns-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

Let a festive member of the new Feathered Friends Deep Edge Dies trio brighten your holiday cards.  This cheery bird would be happy in any color combo - like pinks and reds for your favorite gal-friends.  Or "he"  would be great in greens and blues for the guys, especially those Seahawks fans.  Keep the gray background and white Snowflake Ring - just change the accent strips, circle and gem stickers.

Hello, Jean Okimoto here today, with the details behind my December Challenge inspiration card.  The Feathered Friends Deep Edge dies are great with felt, heavy handmade artpapers, cork, fabric and wood veneer strips.  I've chosen some of my favorite papers  from Shizen Design - the pretty pink/red print and embossed red floral pattern.  Bits of felt create the eye, beak and rosy cheek.

MemoryBoxFeatheredFriendsDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxSnowflakeRing-MemoryBoxCircleBasics-MemoryBoxMerryChristmasSentimentsClearStamps-JeanOkimoto

Diecut the shapes from artpapers.  Cut the background from neutral cardstock.  Cut the facial features from black, orange and pale peach wool-blend felt backed with a layer of adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet.  The backing stabilizes the little pieces and keep adhesives from soaking through.

Cut the white Snowflake Ring and a light pink Circle Basics background to fit behind the ring.  Stamp the greeting - from the Open Studio Merry Christmas Sentiments Clear Stamp Set - with Iced Spruce Distress Oxides.  Cut a ¾" x 5-⅝" strip of red cardstock.

Attach Scor-Tape to bright pink cardstock and cut a 4-¾" x ¾" strip.  Brush ultra-fine iridescent glitter over the adhesive.  Impress Sparkle Glitter makes anything look great - even those scary shades of cardstock and strange printed papers hiding in your stash!  It's just $4.95 for a generous supply of this wonderful stuff.

Attach everything to a gray A-6 (4-⅝" x 6-¼") card - use foamdots for the bird.  Add red gem stickers.

MemoryBoxFeatheredFriendsDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxSnowflakeRing-MemoryBoxCircleBasics-MemoryBoxMerryChristmasSentimentsClearStamps-JeanOkimoto

Thanks for stopping by - hope you'll be inspired to create unique and special cards for everyone on your Christmas list.  See you again this evening...I'll be switching from today's  big bird to tiny ornaments for tonight's card!
