Singing Birds, Half a Dozen Eggs and Swooping Branches and Leaves by Jean Okimoto

The new Singing Birds - diecut from bright wool-blend felt - are more than ready for Spring.  Aren't we all?

Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a simple Easter idea - and another design featuring the pretty screen-printed handmade papers and felt in our stash.  A branch from the Swooping Leaves and Branches Deep Edge Dies set is the perfect, sturdy perch for the colorful birds.

MemoryBoxSingingBirds-MemoryBoxHalfADozenEggs-MemoryBoxSpringLilacsClearStamps-MemoryBoxSwoopingBranchesAndLeavesDeepEdgeDies-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxCards-DiecutEasterCards-DiecutBirdCards-DiecutSpringCards-VersaFineClairs

Cut a pretty spring print with the 2-½" tall die from the Half a Dozen Eggs set.  I've used Shizen Design  screen-printed handmade  paper from Birch Press.  It's made of recycled cotton fabric scraps sourced from t-shirt factories in India.

Attach adhesive label paper or sticker sheets to pink, fuchsia and turquoise wool-blend felt.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and keeps adhesives from soaking through.  Cut three of the Singing Birds.

Cut the branch from the Swooping Branches and Leaves Deep Edge Dies from dark kraft cardstock.

Stamp the greeting - from the Spring Lilacs Clear Stamp Set - on a top-folded natural A-2 card with the new VersaFine Clair Charming Pink.  Dry the ink, attach the diecuts to the card, and add pale turquoise gem stickers.

Singing Birds is another great set for all seasons.  Imagine this design with a floral heart, circle or oval for the summer.  Shiny black birds would create a spooky Halloween card.  Red glittered or velvet birds on snowy branches would be beautiful for winter cards.  Hope the Singing Birds set is already in your Memory Box collection, or on your wishlist!

If you're in the Seattle area, join us for the SPRINGTIME GREETINGS  class at Impress on March 10th.  We'll make 5 cards and a little candy wrapper for Easter chocolates.  Pretty colors, the promise of warmer weather, flowers - and dark chocolate in cute wrappers  - so many reasons why Easter is my favorite holiday!  What's yours?

Thanks for visiting...see you again tomorrow.

Poppy Stitched Circle Frame and Little Dragonflies by Jean Okimoto

The new Poppy Stitched Circle Frame celebrates friendship - and the approach of spring - in fresh  greens and purples.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with a simple card for a special friend.

MemoryBoxPoppyStitchedCircleFrame-MemoryBoxLittleDragonflies-MemoryBoxCircleBasics-MemoryBoxBirdSanctuaryClearStamps-JeanOkimot-VersaFineClairs

Cut Poppy Stitched Circle Frame from green cardstock.  Cut a yellow-green background circle with a Circle Basics die - then cut the background into concentric circles.

Press a Kaleidacolor Riviera inkpad onto an acrylic block to create a palette of inks.  Paint watercolor paper with random, overlapping shades of green, teal and purple.  Air-dry it for a few minutes.  Spritz it lightly with Imagine Crafts Gold Sheer Shimmer Spritz.  Heat-set the inks.

Cut the poppy section and the additional layer - from the watercolored paper. Attach the watercolored poppy over the green poppy.  Attach a scrap of cardstock behind the poppy, then attach it to the background.  The piece of cardstock gives the poppy a bit of dimension without the thickness of a foam dot.

Cut Little Dragonflies from the watercolored paper.

Stamp a top-folded white A-2 card with the greeting - from the Bird Sanctuary Clear Stamp Set - using the new VersaFine Warm Breeze inkpad.

Attach the diecuts to the card.  Add silver gem stickers.

Memory Box frame diecuts look great over contrasting or matching backgrounds.  They also  create quick and easy cards when layered directly over a contrasting card front.  Mix and match them with one of the "Basics" dies for a collage-y look with minimal effort.  Suspend them on a window card for an interactive greeting.  There are so many ways to use these great designs!

Big thanks to everyone from last weekend's SIMPLY ASIAN class at Impress.  Hope you're enjoying our Asian classes - and the origami!    Special thanks also to Ann and Erin for helping everyone find the perfect stamps, inks and papers for their Spring and Easter projects.

No classes for me this weekend. It's time to  start prepping for the March 10 SPRINGTIME GREETINGS class at Impress.  We'll make 5 cards and a sweet little Easter candy holder - pretty colors, glitter and nature-inspired cards to welcome the new season!

Thanks for stopping by...

Floral Butterfly Birthday
by Sharon Harnist

2-24 FPFlowerButterflyBD-SH

Happy Saturday, crafty friends!  Today I'm sharing a birthday card made for my dear, sweet husband's aunt who turned 94 years young this week!  It came together quickly and easily, by using these fabulous dies:  Fresh Picked Flowers, Primavera Butterfly, Adora Butterfly, Sentimental Happy Birthday.

2-24 FPFlowerButterflyBD-P-SH

I started by die cutting the solid Primavera Butterfly from white cardstock, then the Adora Butterfly die cut from gold metallic cardstock and placed on top.  I love that this gives the look of gold metallic embossing, but a lot easier and less mess!  The butterfly was mounted to a kraft card base with foam tape on the top right wing, to give it some dimension.  The beautiful Fresh Picked Flowers die was cut from white cardstock and then colored with Copic markers G20, G21, and R20.  It was also mounted to the card using foam tape behind the leaves and glue dots behind the flower centers, to create more dimension.  The flower that was originally behind the butterfly was cut off the stem and added with foam tape to the top of the lower right flower.

2-24 FPFlowerButterflyBD-CU-SH

Finally, the pretty Sentimental Happy Birthday was die cut from gold metallic and white cardstocks then layered together, offset, to create a shadow effect.  To finish the card, clear sequins were scattered on the background and white Nuvo drops added to the flower centers.

Thanks for checking in today . . . I hope you enjoy your weekend!

Painted Flower Stems
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Friday! It has been so gloomy and rainy here all week that I needed some bright sunshine. I decided to make it myself with the colors on my card today. I don't know about you but I am ready for Spring!

Melissa1

started with my pretty yellow card and some of the plaid paper from Lawn Fawn in a bright blue. Then I die cut the Painted Flower Stems in white and glued all of the layers to the card.

Melissa2

Then I die cut the Sentimental Happy Birthday in a navy paper and glued it to a piece of vellum before adding it to my card. I finished it off with some gems in the center of the flowers. This card is sure to brighten anyones day!

MemoryBoxGloriousFloralStem-MemoryBoxSimpleChicks-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles-MemoryBoxWireworkHeartsClearStamps-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxDesignTeam-MemoryBoxCards-SpringCards-ChickCards-DiecutCards-VersaFineClair-ImpressCardsAndCrafts

It's snowing here - but Simple Chicks and the Glorious Floral Stem are ready to welcome spring today!  Hello, Jean Okimoto here, hoping spring arrives soon.  Till then, I hope these great diecuts, bright pastels and pink gem stickers will brighten your day.

MemoryBoxGloriousFloralStem-MemoryBoxSimpleChicks-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxCards-DiecutSpringCards-ChickCards

Cut the 2-¾" x 4" Wrapped Stitch Rectangle from white cardstock.  Cut the larger Simple Chick near the bottom right corner.  Cut the small chick - slightly overlapping.  You'll end up with chick cutouts on the rectangle - and two little pairs of chick-feet.

Cut Simple Chicks from yellow cardstock.  Attach scraps of orange cardstock behind to diecuts to create beaks. Glue them into the cutouts on the rectangle background.

Cut Glorious Floral Stem from green and pink cardstock.  Trim the pink flowers.  Attach the diecuts to the background.

Stamp the greeting - from the Wirework Hearts Clear Stamp Set - on white A-2 card with Verdant VersaFine Clair.  Attach the diecuts.  Add pink gem stickers.

Make a Snow Bunny Panda - with Bamboo Poles and Little Dragonflies by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxBambooPoles-MemoryBoxSnowBunnyDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxLittleDragonflies-MemoryBoxClutchOfEggs-MemoryBoxCircleBasics-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxCards-MemoryBoxDiecutCards-PandaCards-DiecutPandas-ImpressCarddsAndCrafts-ShizenDesign

Bamboo Poles, Little Dragonflies - and a Snow Bunny transformed into a panda?  Why not?  Hi, happy weekend, Jean Okimoto here with another outside-the-box idea for you today.

The Snow Bunny Deep Edge Die set creates more than bunnies...remember our puppy?

MemoryBoxSnowBunnyDeepEdgeDies-JeanOkimoto-DiecutCards-PuppyCards-PuppyDiecuts

That required a bit of imagination - but the pieces were repurposed into a friendly little pup.  Today's panda was more challenging (those eyes!) - the Clutch of Eggs die and a screw punch were perfect for that sweet, droopy expression.

MemoryBoxBambooPoles-MemoryBoxSnowBunnyDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxClutchOfEggs-MemoryBoxLittleDragonflies-MemoryBoxCircleBasics-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles-JeanOkimoto-FeltDiecuts-DiecutCards-PandaCards-FeltDiecuts

Attach adhesive label paper or a sticker sheet to white felt.  The paper backing stabilizes the felt and keeps adhesives from saturating it.  Cut the face, muzzle, midsection and two noses (for the paws) from the felt.

Cut two 1" circles of black cardstock with the Circle Basics die for the ears.  Cut the body section, nose and paws from black cardstock.

Cut two big eggs from the Clutch of Eggs set from black cardstock.  Punch eye circles with a screw punch.

Assemble the panda.  Smile.  Trim it to about 3-⅜" tall.

Cut Bamboo Poles from green cardstock.  Cut the 2" x 3-¼" Wrapped Stitch Rectangle from yellow-green cardstock.  Cut two Little Dragonflies from Shizen Design gold glitter paper.

Attach the diecuts to a 5-½" square card of textured green cardstock.

MemoryBoxBambooPoles-MemoryBoxSnowBunnyDeepEdgeDies-MemoryBoxClutchOfEggs-MemoryBoxLittleDragonflies-MemoryBoxCircleBasics-MemoryBoxWrappedStitchRectangles-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxDiecutCards-PandaCards-FeltDiecuts-DiecutAsianDesigns

Hope you enjoyed creating a panda - and finding more ways to use your Memory Box dies!  Pandas are my second-favorite animal, after dogs.  We have two cocker spaniels - but no pandas.

Enjoy the long weekend if you have a holiday on Presidents Day.  If you're in the Seattle area and need a few birthday card ideas -  join us for another CAKES, CANDLES AND BIRTHDAY WISHES class at Impress on February 19th.  Six colorful cards that may seem complicated - but are super-easy and quick.

Happy Day
by Sharon Harnist

Valentine's Day may be over for the year, but that doesn't mean you must put away your "Valentine" stamps and dies!  They can be great for weddings, anniversaries, or just an everyday "Wishing you a very happy day" card!

2-15 WireHeartHappyDay-SH

For this card, I used the Wirework Hearts clear stamp set and coordinating Wirework Hearts die set, along with the Heart Rays die:

2-15 WireHeartHappyDayProd-SH

I simply gold heat embossed the beautiful large wirework heart onto 110 Lb. white cardstock, and die cut it.  I prefer heavier cardstock when heat embossing, to cut down on any possible warping of the cardstock.  Then I popped the heart up with foam tape over a 5.25" x 4" white cardstock panel that had the Heart Rays die cut into it and sentiment also gold heat embossed.  The background panel was placed onto a gold metallic card base -- I love how the base peeks through the tiny die cut hearts!

2-15 WireHeartHappyDayCU-SH

I really like the simple elegance of this monochromatic gold metallic color scheme, but you could easily change up the colors of the cardstock and/or heat embossing (or stamp in a colored ink), to greatly change the feel of this card!  What colors would you use?  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Ready for Spring – Everglade Collage, Stitched Rain Boots and Proper Umbrella by Jean Okimoto

MemoryBoxEvergladeCollage-MemoryBoxStitchedRainBoots-MemoryBoxProperUmbrella-MemoryBoxParsleyNotecard-JeanOkimoto-MemoryBoxCards-FriendshipCards-UmbrellaCards-SpringCards-VersaFineCLAIR-ImpresCardsAndCrafts-ShizenDesign

Stitched Rain Boots, Everglade Collage and Proper Umbrella are ready to welcome spring - even if it is Valentine's Day!   Hello and Happy Valentine's Day  - Jean Okimoto here with a quick spring design for you today.

MemoryBoxEvergladeCollage-MemoryBoxStitchedRainBoots-MemoryBoxOpenStudioSpringLilacsClearStampSet-MemoryBoxProperUmbrella-VersaFineCLAIR-JeanOkimoto

Cut an unfolded Parsley Notecard with the Everglade Collage.  Stamp the greeting - from the Spring Lilacs Clear Stamp Set - with the new Charming Pink VersaFine CLAIR .  It's a clear, bright fuchsia-pink that'll brighten a dark winter day.

Cut Proper Umbrella from a colorful floral print.  I've used #1125 by Shizen Design, available at Impress,  and #61096 at Birch Press Design.    Cut the umbrella again from a scrap of cardboard and from gold metallic cardstock. Attach the gold umbrella behind the floral portion of the umbrella- every so slightly offset along the top edge  to outline it against the Parsley Notecard background.    Attach the cardboard umbrella behind them for more definition.

Attach a layer of laminate over turquoise cardstock and diecut Stitched Rain Boots.  The laminate adds a glossy, waterproof look - like real rainboots!  Diecut another pair of rain boots from scrap cardstock and layer them for added dimension.

Add pink gem stickers.

Special thanks to everyone from last weekend's CAKES, CANDLES & BIRTHDAY WISHES class at Impress!   Hope you liked the birthday cards we made - and the new VersaFine CLAIR inkpads we used.  Yummy colors, great for both solid images and detailed designs and quick embossing too - the perfect inkpad.  Big thanks to Erin and Laura too - for helping everyone fill their baskets with dies from Memory Box and Poppystamps, VersaFine CLAIRS and great papers.

There's a second class on Presidents Day, February 19th.  Join us if you have the day off (or even if you don't!)  Thanks for visitng - see you again on Saturday...

You Are Special
by Sharon Harnist

Could you use a little pampering today, to get ready for Valentine's Day?  I'm here to help!  Hello, Memory Box fans -- I'm Sharon Harnist.  I'm new here to the blog and design team and I couldn't be more thrilled!  I've loved and used Memory Box products for MANY years and I am very grateful and excited to begin this journey!

2-ValentineBathSalts-SH

I recently hosted my neighborhood ladies Bunco game night and wanted these wonderful women to feel special and pampered, so I came up with these relaxing bath salts gifts for them!  An internet search for homemade bath salts will yield dozens of recipes for you to try ... I settled on Lavender and Rose Petal.  The easiest part of this project was putting together these sweet tags, to tell the recipients how special they are!  I used the Wirework Hearts clear stamp set:

2-ValentineBathSaltsP-SH

To stamp the medium wirework heart on the 3-1/2" x 1-7/8" tags, I used Tsukineko Delicata Silvery Shimmer ink.  For the Rose Petal salts, I used Tsukineko Memento Rose Bud ink to stamp the small heart and sentiment.  For the Lavender bath salts, I used Ranger Distress Oxide Wilted Violet ink for the small heart and sentiment.  Then I just tied the tags around the jars with colored twine:

2-ValentineBathSaltsP-SH

To finish the gifts, I simply made a label to cover the tops of these repurposed frappuccino bottles!

2-ValentineBathSaltsP-SH

There are TONS of other things you could package as gifts into jars, then just use this versatile stamp set to dress them up and make the recipient feel that much more special!  Thanks so much for joining me today and Happy Valentine's Day!

You Make My Heart Flutter
by Melissa Rusk

Happy Thursday! Today I have a fun card perfect for your Valentine. Let's get started!

Melissa

To create this card I started with my card base and a pretty plaid from Lawn Fawns Perfectly Plaid Spring paper pad. I layered them together and then I die cut my heart window with the largest heart in the Have a Heart set. I taped a piece of clear thread on the card in the middle of the heart and then glued the plaid paper on to the card to hide the thread.

Melissa1

Next I die cut the darling Drifting Side Butterfly and glued the two pieces together. Then I taped the butterfly to the clear thread in the middle of the heart window so it floats in the middle of the card. Cut two of the solid piece of the butterfly to hide the tape and the thread.

Melissa2

I finished off my card with some teal paper on the inside and I stamped the adorable sentiment from the Birch Press Designs stamp set Sending Love. I added a little heart to my stamped banner to match.

Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by the blog!
