Welcome Memory Box Friends,
Here's a look at the Classic Ice Skates--a new die from Memory Box's Winter 2017 release. I have paired it with the Holly Collage from the Holiday release and the Snowflakes stencil from a while back. I like to mix the new with the well loved "experienced" products.
These snowflakes are raised and glittered giving them dimension and sparkle. I taped the snowflake stencil directly onto the blue card stock and spread Opaque Matte texture paste onto the stencil as though I was applying "frosting" using an offset palette knife. Once all the open areas were filled and smoothed with texture paste I removed the stencil and doused the wet snowflakes with ultra fine irridescent glitter. (note: make sure you immediately rinse the paste off the stencil as it sets up quickly and is difficult to remove when dry.)
After the background dried I added the cluster of green holly leaves and the skates which were paper pieced with silver mirror paper on the skate blades. I also changed out the ribbon with red card stock.
This would be a good card to create in a production line if you are making several of the same design.
These snowflakes and skates have me thinking about winter and the holidays. Several shopping centers here open up ice rinks during December and January for the young and the young-at-heart who like to get out there on the ice. I'll be there cheering them on!
Hope you give this quick and easy card a go...remember to mix your new and "experienced" dies or stencils on your cards too.
Thank you for stopping by today!
