Today's card features a couple of folds, Memory Box dots papers, kraft and other cardstocks, STITCHED FARM PUMPKINS 99882, CURVED PICKET FENCE 99878, the Chinese Lanterns from GARDEN SKETCHES Clear Stamps Set CL5204 and the coordinating die from GARDEN SKETCHES DIE SET 32204, EACH DAY IS A BLESSING Clear Stamp Set CL5214, and BLESSING PERKY SCRIPT die 99864. I owe a big "THANKS" to my friend Connie for showing me this card format with two folds.
I really love this flip flop card! (...even though you can see my foam dots from this angle!)
Here are the directions for the way I constructed this card.
Start by cutting, scoring, and folding all of the cardstock first. I used kraft cardstock for this.
- 7 3/4" X 4 3/4", scored at 3" from the right end of the longer edge and fold in from the right side
- 7 1/2" X 3 3/4", scored at 3 3/4", thus folded in half
Then cut the papers.
- One 4 1/2" square
- Two 3 1/2" squares--I cut one of these squares from cream cardstock for the sentiment
- Two 2 3/4" X 4 1/2" rectangles
Adhere the papers to the kraft cardstock.
I added Latte Distressed Dots to the inside of the larger card base and
Squash Dots paper on the front of the small square card and the outside right flap of the larger card. I added the cream cardstock inside the small square card.
To assemble this card, I glued the small square card in the center of the larger brown dot square. The flap on the right then folds over the cream sentiment square and the top square flap closes over that.
Then decorate the card surfaces. On the front of the square, I added the Picket Fence cut from white cardstock and a collection of Stitched Farm Pumpkins cut from Jack O' Lantern notecard scraps.
On the flap that tucks under the pumpkins I added two of the Chinese Lanterns, making sure that they wouldn't show when the pumpkin flap was closed. (I stamped them in Hero Arts Cup O' Joe ink and colored them with Prismacolor pencils in three different oranges before die cutting them.)
On the other side of that flap I added three more Chinese Lantern sprigs. And on the cream sentiment square I added a double-layered "blessing" cut from more of the Jack O' Lantern notecard scraps and stamped words from the Each Day is a Blessing stamp set (in Hero Arts Cup O' Joe ink). I then added a pumpkin and one more sprig of Chinese Lanterns.
The final touch? An amber gem to dot the "i".
I'm already thinking of ways to use this format for Christmas cards. Don't you just love cards that open in different ways and give you lots of surfaces to embellish?!!!Happy Crafting!
