Soaring Bird, Decorative Poinsettia Oval, and Pinecone Collage Cards
by Anne Thompson

Today's holiday cards feature the SOARING BIRD  die 99837 perched on the pinecone branch from the PINECONE COLLAGE die 99793 nestled within the DECORATIVE POINSETTIA OVAL die 99859.

Bird 1

I began with silver cardstock to cut the Soaring Bird once and the Decorative Poinsettia Oval which I cut twice in order to make a fuller poinsettia.  I also added silver stamens from the POINSETTIA BLOOMS set of 5 dies 30093.  I love that the poinsettia is not attached to the oval so I can place the finished bloom anywhere I choose on the card front.

Dies 1

I glued the silver bird onto dark green cardstock and fussy cut around it.  I also cut the poinsettia oval again from the same dark green cardstock and used the largest flower to create leaves to tuck under the layered silver poinsettia, adding the silver stamens and a silver gem to the flower center.   I then cut the Pinecone Collage branch twice, once from silver and once from the dark green.

Dies 2

I glued the bird's feet to the double-layered branch.  To assemble the card, I glued the oval to the front of a pale blue notecard, pop-dotted the bird into the center, and added the poinsettia in the upper left.

I completed the second card in the same way, this time using metallic gold cardstock, dark brown cardstock, and lighter brown distressed dots paper on a kraft notecard with a dark brown pearl in the center of the poinsettia.

Bird 2

For the third card I used bright white and red cardstocks and a white pearl for the poinsettia center on a black notecard.

Bird 3

I'm not sure which combination is my favorite, although I do love that metallic gold paper. And I love the tiny black gems I found that fit perfectly in the eye holes.  There are more color combinations I want to try, especially since I found my stash of metallic copper paper after I'd made these three.

Happy Crafting!  Have you started making your holiday cards yet?  There are some fantastic dies and stamps in this newest holiday release to help you get started!
