Let It Snow: Snowflake Swell, Snowflake Wire, Piccolo Snowflakes
by Anne Thompson

I'm continuing my personal challenge to create as many holiday/winter cards as I can this month.  Today's post features two "merry Christmas" cards and three "let it snow" cards.

I used the SNOWFLAKE SWELL 99828, SNOWFLAKE WIRE 99809, PICCOLO SNOWFLAKES 99850, and either the MERRY CHRISTMAS SENTIMENTS clear stamp set CL5212 or the LET IT SNOW PERKY SCRIPT die 99866 to make the five cards.

I cut the Snowflake Swell from a light blue cardstock and trimmed it down for the front of a white notecard.  I had some fun experimenting with the placement of the die--above you'll see the Swell curving left on one card and to the right on the other.  I then cut the Snowflake Wire and the Piccolo Snowflakes from navy blue cardstock.  I anchored the larger snowflake on the Wire loop to the center of the middle snowflake on the card front with a little glue.  I then used dots of glue in the centers to add the three navy snowflakes on top of the light blue ones.  This left me the option of pulling up the "legs" of the snowflakes to add more dimension to the card fronts.  I stamped "merry Christmas" in Achival Jet Black ink.  I used pearls in several sizes for the centers of the snowflakes, the little circles on the Snowflake Wire, and to accent some of the light blue open space.

I constructed these cards in the same manner, just changed the orientation of the Snowflake Swell (one side-fold, two top-fold cards), the cardstock colors, and the color of the base notecards.   For the card on the left, I cut the Snowflake Wire, Piccolo Snowflakes and the word "snow" from white cardstock.  For the one on the top right, I used the same color cardstock as the base notecard.  For the one on the bottom right, I cut the "let it snow" from the same dark green as the Snowflake Swell and tucked the words in along that channel.

I think it's time to replenish my stock of white pearls.  I particularly love the tiniest ones and I'm almost out. I do love a little bling!  When I'm mailing cards like these with lots of pearls or other dimensionals, I like to add a tiny piece of bubble wrap over the card front when tucking it into the envelope. Other things I like to do--add something from the card front to the inside of the card.  Each of these cards gets an extra Piccolo Snowflake inside.  And I always decorate the envelopes to coordinate and hint at what might be inside.  For these, I'll use the small snowflake stamp on the B2007 Joyful Combo wood-mounted stamp with Hero Arts Cornflower Blue ink on the white envelopes.

 Happy Crafting!
