Watercolor Iris

Greetings friends.   I hope you are doing something fun this weekend, perhaps even a little stamping!  For my card today, I wanted to share the new Sentimental Iris stamp set with coordinating dies.  The stamp set is rather nice because it also includes butterflies as well as everyday occasion sentiments such as "get well soon" and "just a note."  I chose the friendship sentiment because I have a friend who absolutely loves irises, and this card is for her.

Irises can be so many different colors.  I chose to go with the purple colors we get in are yard.  Here is a close up of the iris as well as the colors of Zig Clean Brush Markers I used:

I started with watercolor paper stamped with black Versafine ink and then outlined the edges of each petal with one of the Zig markers.  I then took a waterbrush and colored each petal towards the center of the flower.  As you move away from the outside edge of the flower with a waterbrush, you will notice the color getting lighter and lighter and will end up with a gradient of color.  If the color isn't getting lighter fast enough, wipe off your waterbrush onto a paper towel to get rid of any extra paint and continue with a clean brush.

In the center of the card, I used the Pinpoint Circle Frame die to cut out a window.  The sentiment is on the inside of the card and all the watercolored images are glued to the outside.  The circle frame is nice because it adds a subtle dotted ring about anything you choose to highlight on your card.  In the final picture, you can see the window a bit better as well as the detail of the pinpoint frame:

Have a great weekend!
