Paper Fashions

We're dressing up paper dolls today!  Anyone remember playing with Paper Dolls as a child?  I am showing my age by asking that for sure.  I used to spend hours cutting out paper dolls and outfits---changing them to match the next imaginary activity.

Isn't this oval frame gorgeous?  I thought it would make a perfect ornate mirror especially with a piece of silver metal foil for the reflection.  To make the dress form semi-authentic I die cut a piece of natural sticky-back canvas for the torso portion.  Bet you're too young to remember the real muslin dress forms too!

Dress Form

The mirror is from the Findlay Frame Set (#98549), Small Dressform (#98611), Taylor Party Dress (#98609) and the tiny flowers are from the Floral Delights die (#98349).  I colored a strip of small adhesive-backed pearls with a beige Copic marker and draped the strip onto the bodice for an "aged" pearl necklace.

After creating the mirror, dressform and dressy dress, I made a few more outfits for special occasions...

Lily-of-the-Valley Garden dress.  I used the Dancing Tulips die (#98295).  Turn tulips into lilies by positioning the flower heads downward and tilted.  Die cut a second dress in patterned paper, cut at waistline and use bodice portion layered onto green dress.

A Sweetheart Dress...Cut the Taylor Party Dress (#98609) from pink distressed dots paper, then a second one in white, cut at the waistline and position it slightly below the hemline for a showy petticoat. The hearts are from the Heart Canopy Die (#98293) with a dab of glitter.  And the cutest part... the Tiny Bow (#98623)

Tropical Party Dress...Big Splash Border (#98438), School of Fish (#98567) and the pink flower is from the Chery Blossom die (#98316)

My goal for today's blog post was to show you how to use several dies in different ways and combinations, and how to use up those scraps of paper you have in your stash.  All the papers shown above came from my "pieces" box---no full sheets were used today!

Hope you have a great weekend and find time to create your art...

Happy Friday and Happy Summer Solstice today...
