Honeyblossom Sprig

Wow.....aren't these new stamps and dies from Memory Box just wonderful!  Dave never ceases to amaze me with the new designs.   I've had so much fun these last few days seeing all the great designs here on the Outside the Box blog.   I'm also enjoying seeing the designs you've been uploading onto our Flickr page!

Remember, we're having a Flickr card contest! You have until Thursday, June 14th, (11:59 EST) to upload a card to the Memory Box group using at least one Memory Box die. Two winners will be selected to receive some new Memory Box dies, and the winning cards will be highlighted on Outside the Box on Friday, June 15th.

So, you want another opportunity to win prizes, you say?  Well, leave a comment on this blog post and the others each day this week.  At the end of each day (11:59 EST), we'll randomly draw a name from the comments to win one of the new dies.

Personally,  I had a hard time choosing which new design to feature.  I've created at least 8 cards over the last few days and I love each and everyone of them!  So fun.  I finally landed on the Honeyblossom Sprig (98333).

  • Cut a 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" mat from Lagoon paper and attach to Vanilla Bean Note Card.
  • Cut a 4" X 5 1/4" mat from White paper and attach to card front.
  • Die cut Tessatina Border 98302 from Lagoon paper and attach to right side of card.
  • Die cut Honeyblossom Sprig from cold-press watercolor paper or thick cardstock.
  • Color image using various Distress Stains.  You could also use watercolor markers, Copics, Twinkling H2O's.  Use your imagination!
  • With the Distress Stains, the paper got pretty saturated so I carefully dried it with a heat gun.
  • Once dry, cover the entire image with a watermark ink like Versamark and cover completely with Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE).   Heat until melted.  Allow to cool and add Versamark again and a 2nd layer of UTEE.  Adhere to front of card.
  • Stamp sentiment in brown ink onto white paper and attach to a Vanilla Bean mat and attach to front of card.

Supplies:   Memory Box paper: Vanilla Bean, Lagoon, White; Memory Box dies: Honeblossom Sprig, Tessatina Border; Memory Box stamp: Just a Note Combo; Ranger Distress Stains:  Bundled Sage, Shabby Shutters, Tumbled Glass, Worn Lipstick, Wild Honey.

I'll be teaching this card and three others at Prairie Art Stamps in Springfield, IL on June 16.  Then I'll be teaching 4 totally different cards at Scrapadoodle in Peoria, IL on June 23.  Will I see you there? Check out the Find a Memory Box Class Near You link at the top of this page for a class near you.

Credit for this technique goes to Memory Box Design Team member, Sue T.!   I was inspired by her blog post here.

Thanks for checking in today.  And thank you for leaving comments...even when there isn't a contest!  It makes our day!!!
