This is the card for my March Memory Box Die-Mania class at Ink About It. This time I am featuring the Scalloped Posie die (98269). Although as you can see, I actually used several dies on this card. I must admit, I have quickly become very addicted to the dies!
I started with a new Aloe notecard, cream cardstock, blueberry distressed dot paper and cream crepe paper. Along with these stamps:
Leafy Branch Globe Thank You Combo
(E1850) (B1751)
And these dies:
Also, notice the quilling tool. This is so handy for making the posies.
I cut my scalloped circle and stamped the Leafy Branch Globe with Momento Cocoa ink. I colored the leaves with a Spectrum Green Copic marker (G02). I stamped the Thank you sentiment with Denim Distress ink. I also used this ink to edge the scalloped circle and to brush over pieces of cream crepe paper before cutting the posies. Because of the ridges in the crepe paper, the ink only colored the high points, leaving a striped look. I love the texture of the flowers cut from crepe paper. After forming the flowers with my quilling tool, I pushed down on them with my thumb - squishing them inward so the petals would open up and curl over a bit. I added them to the card with mini glue dots.
Here's a close-up on the flowers:
Next, I cut the Macarena Corner (98291) and the Fringe Border (98266) dies from Blueberry distressed dot paper. It's hard to tell in the picture, but I slightly curled the bottom edges of the Fringe Border before adhering it to the card so it has a little dimension rather than lying flat. There is a strip of gray velour ribbon (May Arts) along the top of the Fringe Border.
If you want to see a truly amazing project using the posie dies - check out Dave's post 100 Paper Rose Topiary. It's incredible!
Have a great week.
