Cheerful Birdie

Snowbirdie
Here's my last card to share for 2011.  Thought this could be used for a winter birthday or a thank you.  Do you have big plans for New Year's Eve?  We're just planning to stay at home with our youngest son.  My middle son moved out in August, and yesterday we moved out his bed and moved in shelves from IKEA.  I have great plans for storing all my Memory Box supplies in one place.  I had to peek in the room this morning to make sure it was real.  I think 2012 will be my year to get my supplies organized.

Okay, here's how the card is made - Stamp Sparkle Snowflake Background with Oasis Green on Kraft card stock (I used the reverse side of the Rustic 12x12 patterned paper.)  Sponge the edges with Oasis Green.  Cut a mat for the background from Rustic 12x12 patterned paper.

Stamp Holiday Birdie on white card stock and color with colored pencils and blend with Gamsol.  Die cut birdie.  Using smallest circle on Cropadile, punch out a circle from glittered fun foam for bird's hat.  Free hand cut hat brim from glittered fun foam and glue onto bird die cut.   Die cut Lavalier Circle from Twinkle Soiree cardstock.

Cut a strip of Glittered fun foam and score lines on either side of strip on Thistle card front.  Attach all pieces to card front using foam tape under Lavalier circle and under bird.

Supplies:

  • 281C Poppy Stamps Holiday Birdie
  • 291F Poppy Stamps Snowflake Background
  • 98216 Memory Box Lavalier Circle
  • Thistle note card
  • Rustic 12x12 patterned paper
  • Soiree Twinkle Metallic card stock
  • VersaMagic Oasis Green
  • Colored pencils and gamsol
  • White EVA glitter sheet (fun foam)

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a safe and Happy New Year's Eve and New Year and happy stamping!

A Touch of Pink

P1010373

I decided to do a year end search through my Memory Box stamps and pick out a few of my favorites.  While I have to say I had a huge pile on my work desk and ended up only fitting a few into my card this morning.

I used the following stamps: Birch Branch Print - G1720, Flower Bundle - E1321, Alpha Background E996, Happy Birthday Candle - C1373.

Recipe:

  1. Ink up Alpha background with black ink and stamp three times across white cardstock. Re-ink and repeat.  Continue to stamp the background until covered in pattern.  (4" x 5 1/4")
  2. Smear white acrylic paint over stamped background to soften background.
  3. Sponge black dye ink  around the edges.
  4. Stamp branches from left side of background using black archival ink. Repeat until desired. Heat set.
  5. Stamp flowers along bottom using black ink. Repeat until desired. Heat set.
  6. Accent branches and flowers with white gel pen.
  7. Add Memory Box jewels on flowers.
  8. Stamp butterflies using pink ink. Cut out. Accent with gems and attach.
  9. Stamp sentiment using black ink on white cardstock. Cut ends to form banner.
  10. Layer main image onto white cardstock. Attach to black cardbase. Accent with lace and twine.

Now you can do a year end review of your favorite stamps and start inking up!

Happy Friday!  While the sample card is a Christmas design, by simply changing out the calendar in the background you can transform it into a card for any occasion.

        1. Start with a kraft note card & add a strip of vanilla bean distressed dot paper to the left-hand             side.

        2. Ink the Winter Collage stamp with brown ink on the top portion & red ink on the bottom, &             stamp the image on eggshell cardstock.

        3. Layer the stamped image on a piece of cranberry cardstock & glue the calendar on top of the             image.

        4. Stamp the Crested Bird on the vanilla bean cardstock; color & cut out the image.

        5. Ink the Crested Bird stamp with black ink & stamp the image on top of the Winter Collage layer.

        6. Pop dot your cut & colored cardinal; wrap with twine & tie a button on.

        7. Layer on top of your card.

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas!

Celebrate the Seasons

Here's a Christmas gift card holder for my son who likes to visit Las Vegas on New Year's Eve.  One can always use a little extra spending money there right?

IMG_2999
Score and fold a 4 1/4 x 12 sheet of "All of the other Reindeer" at 1 1/2" and 7".  Adhere the shorter side along outside edges creating a pocket.  Edge with a strip of scalloped red trim.

Fold down the upper portion creating the cover. I glittered the Graceful Deer using a double sided adhesive sheet and rich brown micro fine glitter (java bean).  Add a die cut border (Piestra Tile) backed with chocolate cardstock to the bottom edge of the cover.  A red ribbon accent matches the scarves on the background reindeer too.

There you have it---a Christmas card that's not too "frou-frou" for a guy and it's holding a gift card for his New Year's Las Vegas trip. That's celebrating both holidays!

By the way, if you need a last minute gift these are fast and easy to create.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

Let Heaven and Nature Sing

P1010334

Happy Thursday!  I decided to pull together a few different images to create a quick holiday. card. This could easily be used for a variety of occasions by swapping out the sentiment.

Recipe:

  1. Create mask. (Cut out a frame in middle of scrap cardstock.)  I just moved it around to sponge in the center.
  2. Stamp the Distressed Jingle Bells G1827 using Versafine Smokey Gray ink on white cardstock.
  3. Place mask over and sponge in Memento Plum in the center.
  4. Stamp Meadow Birds D1376 using black ink. Highlight with white gel pen.
  5. Stamp Elemental Damask C1390 using black ink along left side of music.
  6. Stamp Heaven Sings B1385  sentiment using black ink overlapping onto music.
  7. Mount on black cardstock and place on white card base.

Quick and easy card. Wishing you and your families a wonderful holiday!

Snowy Landscape

Do you have last minute Christmas cards to make??  Well, this card is it. The Country Landscape die is just wonderful.  The Country Landscape die is the perfect thing to make a quick but beautiful holiday card. This is one of the most popular card designs at The Scrapbooking Studio in Bloomington, IL. It's really pretty, but so easy and fast to put together.

12.20 blog

For this card, I simply die cut the Country Landscape from white shimmer paper and then die cut a 2nd and 3rd one from scraps of paper from the Yuletide and Tinsel 6X6 paper packs.   I paper pieced the corresponding trees and houses from the scrap pieces and attached them to the shimmer white piece.  This was attached to a piece of the light blue snowflake paper from the Yuletide pack and added to the front of the card.

I added the Star of Wonder at the top, stamped and heat embossed All is Calm in the lower right corner...added a touch of Stickles...and we're ready to go!

Enjoy your day!

A New Year's Gift

I don't know about you, but I'm running short on time here for getting everything made that's on my to-do list! One project that has gone pretty quickly is my 2012 calendar. A huge time-saver was buying 2012 DIY Calendars from Paper Source (www.paper-source.com). These little 12-page kits come boxed in a CD jewel case and are all ready for me to just add stamping.

Calendar 2

The other huge time saver was that I had already pulled appropriate stamps and inks for each month into plastic containers for use with a class at Your Maine Stamper. I had lots of stamps to choose from in my Memory Box collection!  Once I stamped all of my images, I added color with Prismacolor Pencils.  I used Colorbox Chalk Chestnut Roan Ink most of the time, and I've indicated any other inks I used in the lists below.

There are lots of free calendars available on the Internet for printing out so you can create your own 2012 calendar. Think about framing each month with some wonderful Memory Box papers! With so many images available, I'm sure that you can create some stellar calendars of your own!

When I did this in my class, we also discussed how each month could turn into a card front.  Just think--TWELVE cards ready to send out, highlighting a date each month for the lucky recipient whether it be a birthday, anniversary, wedding, graduation, new baby...you get the idea. I think that's just what I'm going to do with one of mine!

Happy Stamping!  And HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Beary Merry Christmas

IMG_4779

Hi Everyone!

One week till the big day. I am busy, busy, busy with finishing school for the semester, working and getting my holiday cards done. I took time off from the mass production of cards to make a special card for the DH. He loves bear cards. I think the teddy bears are just a bit cutesy for my tastes. As usual Memory Box to the rescue.

I made this stair step card using Dave's famous bears. I stamped Colin Bear D1831 with black on white felt. I die cut him with the matching die 98233. I gently shaded him with a grey colored pencil and paper pieced his scarf with the paper from the Yuletide collection # 10147. I stamped Fred P.Bear C1409 with black ink on white felt and colored him with a tan colored pencil and paper pieced his scarf. The snow on the steps was die cut from the Yuletide paper, using the snowflake border # 98146. I attached the border with a glue stick and sprinkled white glitter over it and it attached wherever their was glue leaking through. I die cut a circle and stamped just the top of Stand of Trees E1759 and colored them with copic markers. I applied liquid pearls to create the snow on the trees. I stamped Christmas Cheery Block E1299 with black ink. With left over pieces of the snow flake border I glued them to the background circle.

Here is close up of the back of the card.
