Every summer my friend Donna and I take an overnight trip to see/do something interesting. This year we drove three hours on a Thursday in August to take watercolor and colored pencil card classes from our own Dave Brethauer at Art Plus in Concord, NH. What a great class! When the local agricultural fair opened this past weekend, I displayed the five watercolor cards and three of the colored pencil cards in the Exhibition Hall. And I won blue ribbons on all of them!
You, too, can create lovely Blue Ribbon winners of your own. If you haven't/can't take a class from Dave, the next best thing is to get hold of a copy of CARD DESIGN, rubber stamping with colored pencils and watercolors by Dave Brethauer. This is a gem of a book, filled with pages and pages of techniques and sample cards, with detailed directions in the back of the book for completing each card. I refer to this book often as a refresher course and for card layout ideas. Any of these techniques can easily be adapted for use with any Memory Box stamp. And I can certainly see ways to incorporate the new dies in the card layouts.
So get stamping and get out those watercolors, Twinkling H2Os, and colored pencils and create your own Blue Ribbon cards!
Happy Stamping!
