Happy Monday! I wanted to share two things with you today. The first is very exciting. . .it's time to reveal the new "What's in the Box" goodies! The Design Team will be showcasing the new stamps, dies, and papers this week on the DT Blog. There will be approximately 3 different posts each day (starting today). Now for my quick tip. As I was cutting out all of the papers and goodies for my last class at Stamp Salado, I realized that when the dies slip on my paper, the paper is not cut exactly how I wanted it especially on lined or dotted paper. So, here is what I do to solve that problem. I have used the Memory Box Dots paper and the Classic Scallop die as an example.

1. Place paper onto die cutting platform face up.

2. Place die on top of paper face down lining up dots.

3. Add two pieces of Eclipse Tape or masking tape (stick to clothes first to remove some of the adhesive) to hold down the die in the correct position on the paper.

4. Run through die machine to get a perfectly lined-up cut.

Note: See below how I lined up the die along the dots.

Use Your Memory Box CS for a Reference Book!

Memory Box cardstock is not only amazing for cards, layouts, and other paper crafting projects, but it is also perfect for making a reference book!  You are probably wondering what kind of reference book!  Well, if you have seen my last few posts about embossing and sanding Memory Box cardstock, you can use that same technique to make a reference book of all of your embossing folders!  It works perfectly!  Here is what I did.

First I cut a lot of 2 1/4" square pieces of Memory Box cardstock. Memory Box cardstock is perfect because it has a white core. The white core shows your embossing beautifully after sanding. I used scraps from my scrap box. You will want to use fairly dark paper so your embossing shows up after sanding too. The colors scraps I had on hand were Memory Box vanilla bean, dill, sapphire, and blueberry.  These colors worked really well!

 
Then I quickly ran the paper scraps and all of my embossing folders and plates through my Big Shot. I did this for each embossing folder or plate that I have (Cuttlebug, Sizzix, and SU). After I embossed a piece, I used my sanding block to sand the piece of paper. I then mounted each sample on a piece of printer paper, wrote the embossing folder name down, and put it in my reference binder. Here are a few samples pages of how they turned out:  


  
Doesn't the Memory Box cardstock work perfectly?  And imagine how pretty those embossed papers would be on your creations!  I hope you will use your Memory Box scraps to make a reference book. And be sure to save a piece of all of your Memory Box cardstock to make a swatch book too!  That really comes in handy. Here is my post about my Memory Box swatch book!

Get the Most Out of Your Paper Packs!

If you stopped by yesterday, you saw the card that I created using the Fernbrae 6x6 paper pack.  If you missed that post, look here.  Today, I wanted to show you how to get the most out of your Memory Box paper packs!

After creating yesterday's card, I had these scraps leftover:

I always slide the scraps back into the pack with the other papers and then put them back into the packaging. No scrap is too small to save in my opinion!  The sentiment on yesterday's card was literally on a 1 1/2" x 1" piece of Fernbrae paper!

That is one thing I love about Memory Box 6x6 packs--the package!  It makes them easy to store "as is," and you don't loose your scraps. Other companies put them in a pack that is bound with glue at the top. How can you save your scraps easily once you have pulled them out of the pack? You can't but because Memory Box papers are in a resealable package, the scraps can stay together with all of the other papers making them easy to use!  And believe me, I need every scrap because I love to use scraps!

I store my Memory Box paper packs in alphabetical order and keep them in my bin storage. Works perfectly, and I can always find what I need.

Now, what about that front sheet in the package that has the collection name and description of the paper pack?  Don't throw it away!  Use the top section without the description!  That cover piece is the same acid free/lignin free paper as the rest in the package so why not use it! You actually get an extra sheet of paper that way!
