Moxie Fab Color Challenge

 
 
Sometimes when looking for some inspiration I enter a challenge to get the creative juices flowing.  The card above is in response to a monochromatic color challenge over at the Moxie Fab site.  This was the color palette you were supposed to use:

 
When I saw all the pretty pinks, I immediately thought of the Memory Box Pixie Valentine collection paper as well as the Bubblegum Morrocan patterned paper. 

To make the card, I stamped the Orchid Branch Print (G1718) onto Cotton Candy cardstock using Rich Cocoa Memento ink.  I colored the petals with my R81 and R83 Copic markers and layered everything together with a pink satin ribbon and some petal pink rhinestones.

More Patterns

 
More bright colors and patterns to deal with a grey and dreary day.  I combined some of the Mango dots and Squash Distressed Dots to create a background card.   I then stamped the Circle Word Background (E1711) on top with black Memento ink and stamped the Wonderland Butterfly (E1713) onto some Mango Distressed Dots paper with the same black ink. 

To add some interest to the butterfly, I colored part of the wings with my FY1 Copic marker (Fluorescent Yellow Orange).  One of the nice things about Copic markers is that they are translucent.  I like that the dots of the patterned paper show through the areas I colored.

 

Playing with Patterns

 
In anticipation of all the snow we are supposed to get tomorrow, I felt the need to make a green spring card. 

One of the nice things about the What's in the Box release is that there are brand new colors and patterns of 8 1/2" x 11" paper.  I really enjoy picking one color and then using several different patterns to make a card.  For this particular card, I used Key Lime Distressed Dots, Moroccan, and Gingham paper.  I was really happy to find out that my Colorbox Lime Pastel Chalk ink matched perfectly.  I stamped the Reverse Tree Sprout (E1716) with the Lime Pastel and then added the Happy Spring (B1215) in the darker Colorbox Chalk Warm Green ink since I really wanted the saying to stand out on the card.

Valentine Mailbox

 
Last year I went to the dollar section at Target and saw these cute little mailboxes, but I didn't buy any.  I then saw other crafters starting to post samples with the mailboxes, and I decided to go back to Target and get some.  Of course, by then, there weren't any left.  This year when I saw the mailboxes in the dollar section, I immediately grabbed a few.

To decorate my mailbox, I added some of the new Pixie paper as well as some hearts that I punched from the same paper collection.  Now it is ready to be filled with candy or little cards to give away as a gift.  Really simple, but really cute!

Oh!  I also wanted to thank you guys for responding to my question about using reverse stamps.  I will definitely have to try some of your ideas.  Thanks!

Spring Birds

 
Reverse images are interesting to use.  You can either ink them up and stamp a primarily solid image onto the paper, or you can emboss them and color the negative space.  Did that make sense?  If you ink and stamp the Reverse Bird Branches (E1426), the rubber is the area around the bird and branches.  I inked it with clear versamark ink and embossed it with clear powder on some of the Pixie paper.  I then used a sponge and colored the birds and branches with some Colorbox Chalk Berrylicious ink.  Once I added the ink, I wiped the excess ink off of the embossing powder using a paper towel.

What about you guys?  Do you have a favorite way to use a reverse image?

Sketch Challenge and New Stuff

 
I was over at the Clean and Simple blog today and saw their latest sketch challenge:

 
I immediately knew that I wanted to combine the sketch with some of the new Memory Box papers from the What's in the Box release.  After I layered all of the papers and added the butterfly, I realized that I hadn't left myself room for the sentiment.  I changed the sketch a bit by moving the saying a bit lower on the card.  Sometimes it is better to look at things before you start gluing things down!

 

A Little Shimmer

 
Perfect Pearls are such a great way to add a little shimmer to a card.  The straight-on shot didn't capture the shimmer well, so I took a close up of the card while holding it up to the light:

 
The nice thing about the card is that it is also really quick and easy to make.

IFirst, I stamped the Reverse Bird Grass image (E1427) onto white cardstock with versamark ink and then brushed the image with green, blue, and purple Perfect Pearls.  I wiped off the extra powder with a Kleenex then layered it onto some meadow cardstock. 

For the background part, I stamped the Leaf Canopy (F1430) onto a Russian Sage notecard with Versamark and brushed it with primarily green Perfect Pearls with just a hint of blue.

 

Floral Heart

 
For this card, I stamped the Daphne Heart (E1422) onto Raspberry cardstock with Versamark ink and embossed it with white embossing powder.  I cut out the heart and then popped it onto a white card that had the Ring and Dot image (B1435) stamped in Colorbox Chalk Pastel Pink ink across the bottom.  To finish the card, I added more Raspberry cardstock and a pale pink bow.  I like the generic quality of the card because it could be given to a spouse, parent, or friend.

 

Adore

 
I realized I hadn't made a card yet with the Adore Peony Collage stamp (G1433).  It is rather surprising considering the image is begging for some Copic markers, and I sure do love my markers!

To make the card, I stamped the image onto white paper with black Memento ink.  I then colored the peonies wit R81 Rose Pink, R83 Rose Mist, R85 Rose Red, and G82 Spring Dim Green Copic markers.  To edge the collage, I added light and dark pink shimmer chalks.  You can't tell from the picture, but they add a nice sparkle to the card.
