Have you tried working with inchies (1" squares) or twinchies (2" squares)? They are a lot of fun to decorate and then add to a card. The square I used was by Inchie Arts and is rather nice because it is artist quality matboard. The reason I liked it so much was that the thickness allowed me to spray it with some Shimmer Spritz without my paper curling on me. Here is a close-up of the gold Shimmer Spritz so that you can see the metallic sheen:
To make the card, I stamped part of the Create Art background (G1130) onto a Twinchie with black Versafine ink. I then sprayed it with gold Shimmer Sprtiz. I added a layer of mocha cardstock behind the Twinchie and then layered everything onto some Jubilee 6" x 6" paper. To finish the card, I added the butterfly (Periwinkle B1181) which was cut from more of the Jubilee paper.
