Paper Ribbon

I guess today is technically the last day I can post a Christmas in July card.  Seriously, where did July go?

For today's card, I had to play with more of the Dewfrost paper.  I have really enjoyed playing with a brown and blue color palette, so I thought I would continue with another card.  The best thing about this card is that it is so quick and easy.  I stamped the reindeer image from the Twelve Days clear set (CL140) onto some of the Dewfrost using sepia VersaFine ink.  I cut it out and then did a bunch of layering with more Dewfrost, mocha cardstock, and a robin's egg notecard.  Here is a close-up of the reindeer/twelve days quote stamp:



I thought the brown polka dot paper in the Dewfrost collection would make a nice faux-ribbon, so I used up some of my scraps and cut it to look like a decorative ribbon.

New Video

Twinkling H2O Poinsettia

Happy Saturday everyone!  I spent part of the day making a new video that shows you how to make this card, but it isn't quite done.  I am hoping to have it for you Monday morning, so check back soon!

For today's card, I paired one of the new stamps (Poinsettia Silhouette E1282) with one of the new paper packs (Spiceberry).  Isn't this paper collection gorgeous?  I love that the paper pack has a poinsettia print that matches the stamp.  However, I didn't want the pattern to overwhelm the card, so I only used a strip.  My poinsettia was made by stamping onto cream paper using Twinkling H2O's.  I'm not going to go into too much detail because the video will show you step-by-step the process of stamping with Twinks.  I layered the poinsettia onto metallic Mars paper to emphasize the metallic sheen of my image and layered everything onto a Vanilla Bean notecard.  To finish the card, I added stome 24karat pearls.  Here is a close-up of the poinsettia so that you can see the metallic quality of the paint:

One Wreath...Two Seasons

What is in the Box you ask?  Well, for one, this wonderful wreath (Bramble Wreath E1276).  It is so versatile and works well for both autumn and winter.  I decided to make two cards that used the same wreath stamped in the same ink (VersaFine Sepia), the same brown ribbon, and the same Mocha cardstock mats.  The only think that differed was the background color pallets.  With a few simple changes, you get vastly different effects.

For my autumn card, I stamped the wreath onto Eggshell cardstock and layered everything onto paper from the new Twilight paper pack and a Jack O Lantern notecard.  To finish the card, I added a few 24K pearls.

Here is what happens if you use one of the other 6" x 6" paper packs:

For my winter card, I stamped the wreath onto paper from the Dewfrost collection and then layered everything onto more decorative paper from that pack and a Robins Egg notecard.  I then changed the pearls from 24 Karat to Berry.  The two cards ended up being very similar and yet very different.

Droppin' a Lion

Is it just me, or is anyone else really exited about the "What's in the Box" release?  I saw that Dave just posted pictures of the new papers on his blog.  Aren't they wonderful?  Plus, he posted pictures of the new stamps on the Memory Box site.  Very, very exiting!  I know there are a few more items that aren't pictured on either site, so stay tuned for even more.

Before I start posting samples using the new supplies, I wanted to share a card using the Hear Me Roar Clear Set (CL131).  I hope you can tell from the picture that there is a window in the card, and the lion is stamped on the inside.  To make the card, I ran my card and Glitterati paper through an Accu-Cut machine to make a circle window card.  I then added some Sweetcorn cardstock to the inside of the card so that it would be yellow instead of white.  I stamped the lion and saying on the inside of the card using black Memento ink and colored the image with Copic markers.  I tried to pick markers that would pick up some of the colors found in the paper.

Long Time No See

Another card from my Brandywine paper series of cards.  Isn't it funny how you can get in a groove with a certain paper collection, stamp, or embellishment?  I will have to get off this kick though because the latest "What's in the box" release is set for July 25th, and my samples will switch to the brand new supplies.  I can't wait!  It is a huge release, and you are going to love all the new goodies.

Back to today's card though.... 

To make the car, I used some of the Brandywine paper pack as a background as well as the material to paper-piece my tree.  All of the stamps are from the Giraffe Party clear set (CL132), and I colored the giraffe using watercolor pencils and a blender pen.

Floral Card

I wanted my next post to include the winner of the 6"x 6" Brandywine paper pack, but the deadline isn't up yet, and I think it is bedtime for me.  So, I will post the winner tomorrow.  Good luck!

Today's card continues my Brandywine paper series.  I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but I cut an oval window with and Accucut machine so that the flowers are a bit behind the Brandywine frame.  I stamped flowers and leaves from the Seed Stems clear set (CL139) using pink and brown inks.  I thought it might be different to color the stems brown instead of the standard green, especially since it would then match my Brandywine paper!

To finish the card, I added some petal pink jewels, layered the flowers onto some Cherry Blossom cardstock, and added a Vanilla Bean notecard.

Birdie Notecard

It may be July and hot as heck, but I have been playing with the 6" x 6" Brandywine paper pack which has an autumnal feel to me.  Aren't the colors gorgeous? 

For this card, I used a variety of patterns from the same pack to paper-piece my bird (Little Birdie clear set CL133), create a frame, and make a couple of backgrounds for the bird.  There ended up being a lot of parts to the card, but it was a surprisingly quick and easy card to make!
